Rusted seat ....????

Bros, here are the steps that I took to resolve this matter, hopefully it may be helpful to some.

1) Call BMW Voice and lodge a complaint (not the dealership).
2) BMW Malaysia would direct the complaint to the dealership - in my case, I got a call from the dealership on the same day.
3) The parts should be available by 2 weeks as told by BMW Malaysia (please ask if not)
4) Call and confirm with the dealership on parts arrival after 2 weeks.
5) Drive in and get it fix (should be able to complete within a day if you drive in early - not weekends).

Do not be fooled sir,

I have a CBU F30 and there are rust on both front seat frames. This is a worldwide issue so your car being CBU or SKD doesn't matter, as it's rusted from the supply line.

Well..tend to agree with you as I did another check when I went for booking in KL, the 328i CBU also have rust underneath the seat. Yes I read about this Korean guy who damaged his car due to this rust issue. I'm not try to establish whether this is a CBU vs SKD issue, however please correct me if I'm wrong, the one with rusted seat is actually bare metal and not painted. The 320D which I inspected, the frame is painted in black similar to the photo posted by one of the forumer in which he claimed that has been replaced.

just out of curiosity, did anyone check under the back seats? i would think they came frome th same lousy supplier

If I'm not mistaken, there is no metallic frame underneath the rear seats. You can lift it and check it yourself.

I hope I'm wrong but I feel they they just reuse the same seat pan (or swap between cars in case some owners make some identifying mark on the seat to check that its actually replaced) - just clean it a little, hopefully apply some anti-rust and paint black. If they really replaced it, I am thinking it should be still the aluminium colour instead of black.
Of course I may be horribly wrong and the new parts are black in colour. What better way to mask rust....

It is new parts being replaced. You can ask them to show you old parts as proof :)
If you own a F30 with an intact warranty, it is a solvable matter. No worries. Many have done it and updated here.

A wise fren of mine said this. New increase in price is to cover this mess. He is very right. LOL

lift up rear seat cushion this morning....no problem...guess only front driver and passenger is affected...

Yup, finally parts arrived. Got a call on Tuesday, and they replaced yesterday One day job. They will replace.

Incidentally, girl from SC called to remind of service and thought mine was a recall rusty seat for 5 series. Anyone know if there is? Why there is none for f30?????

Got my car on 1st week of March. When I place my bookings in December I did mention abt the Rusted Seat issue & etc and he gave the assurance that 2013 car will not have that issue anymore. Well honestly I dont put too much hope on the Sales person words but hey when my car arrives, I check and confirm my car is free from the rusted seat problem !

A couple of occasion I did managed to check the showroom unit of 335i and 320d (CKD)...see photo... and both unit seems to be having the Rusted Seat problem and the 320d had seems to suffered the worst (see photo)

Lets hope all the 2013 car will not have the rusted seat issue anymore...really heart ache seeing all this issue.

Lolllll!!!

My E90 went for rectification work and they gave me a complimentary chisel ... Was a surprise gift as I was bloody surprised to see it in my engine bay.

I tell you, BMW really know how to keep us filled with JOY.
