TheTinkerer,
As far as I know (or have been informed by numerous different sources) the revised version of the steering rack to rectify the "thud" sound has not been released by BMW AG. I am not sure why your SC mentioned they have replaced a revised part for you.

c-square, thanks for the info. I'll be sure to check with my SA again next time. I actually requested for the job sheet when I collected my car and it indeed indicates that the steering rack part is replaced. I'm suspecting that its the old version as the noise started resurfacing. Hope BMW AG will come up with a revised version soon.

Mafulat, are you sure BMW will do a recall for the rusted car seat issue? That'll save my time complaining to them and having to wait for the parts. Anyone second this piece of information?

Lude ... Ingress do that? Go see Mr Clement la. Ask him why such nonsense.
yup.. waiting for him to be back in the office on 4 jan..

Yup, but the SA don't know when will they start the program. Just check in with your preferred dealer to see if they are aware of the issue. Apparently in Korea, there are angry customers smashing their own F30, spray painting the sides "BMW Rusty" and drove them from dealer to dealer trying to make a point. I think it was in e90post forum.

Sound like a very cool Korean guy.

In my opinion, BMW definitely have to resolve this rusted seats issue and I am sure they will. Just give them some time. But I think the Korean guys are over doing it.

Wrote to BMW Malaysia and got prompt reply from them and immediately got a call from the dealer. Was told that the parts to arrive in 2 weeks time. Cross my finger that this issue can be dealt with properly and be behind us so that we can proceed with en-joy-ing our ODM. Other than this, I don't encounter any other issues (touch wood). Cheers bros.

FYI - My new seat pans replaced by AB Sg Besi. They also updated the software, resulting in all my seat, and other settings wiped off...oh well, its no biggie. Next fix will be the new steering rack - in about 2 mths time, pending BMW AG's improved version

how was the job done bro? any secondary defect/ scratch due to the dissambly and re-assy of the seat frame ?

Mine also done last week. Sent in Wed got it back Friday. The SA told me when I sent in th car that they would not be replacing the seat pan. They would sanding it down, spraying with anti-rust and painted. It's now painted black. So I will never know if it was actually sanded down or coated with anti-rust. Just have to cross my fingers and hope it doesn't continue to rust. As seat itself, so far no squeaks/creaks and seems to be put back well. However, I may not be as meticulous so some others when checking these matters.

Also, as a "bonus" the SA who handed me my car back (not my usual SA) told me that they have also applied an upgrade to the idrive/system. The SA didn't tell me what was upgraded. Unfortunately so far i have found 2 irregularities :
1) the button that prevents other passengers from winding down their window doesn't work
2) when i use the remote to open the tailgate, the front passenger (or all doors if so set in the idrive) unlocks. This wasn't the case before the "bonus update" - as all doors will remain unlocked.

Also I'm not sure it's just me but it seems that the ASS shudder restart (which I really hated) seems to be less harsh making it almost tolerable.

Oh - and all the codes previously applied by vic were wiped!!

I'm sure there are many more surprises in store for me....will update if I come across any more.

Alamak arulkl, I thought they are supposed to replace the thing not sand and paint!

Well I guess profits matter more to BMW. But then again shouldn't the seat vendor be providing the replacement seats in the first place? I wonder if the seat vendor will be dropped as a supplier.
