Unofficial F30 - Malaysian Chapter "The Rusted Jackets" Weekend Run!

28th September 2013 - The Longer Drive (for those seeking more satisfaction) PICTURES


Obligatory stop at Ye Olde Smokehouse, Cameron Highlands.

And then.... a surprisingly pleasant detour to the Boh Tea Center, Sungei Palas to enjoy scones, cakes, tea and a beautiful view...

Rolling hills of the boh tea plantation... as far as the eye can see.



After a heavy breakfast, we skip lunch and opt for tea and scones.



Scones were delicious with strawberry jam and cream. Tea was great too.

We drive down thru Simpang Pulai through another set of wonderful twisties, as soon as we reach level groud it starst to rain heaviliy. After a refuel, we head back to KL on the North-South highway. It was a truly satisfying drive, the twisties were phenomenal and accompanying views was breath taking. Let do this again soon.

It's Rocktoberfest time!!

Hi guys, the next trip is planned for October 26th. This will be a 3 stage event:
(A) Stage 1: Breakfast drive to Gohtong Jaya
(B) Stage 2: Bowling @ Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club around 11am
(C) Stage 3: Lunch at Pizza Gallery, Publika around 1pm

You are welcome to participate in all 3 or a combination of the above. The more the merrier!! Non TRJs are welcomed to join the fun.

Han2 was only lead for part of the drive. As I recall, on the way down from Camerons thru Simpang Pulai, the diesel boys took the lead. You guys had a nice unofficial sparring session all the way down. The return sequence was 320d > 320i > 328i > 335i and a crazy myvi trying to keep up somewhere in between. So the petrols were hauled by the diesels.

TRJ had a short drive today followed by lunch at Victoria Station.

It was a fun outing, which fell on a day short of TRJ's 1st anniversary.

Kudos to Wolfdire for initiating an F30 whatsapp group to foster even closer camaraderie among F30ers in the forum, many of whom are new to BMW. As the group grew, it evolved to the F30 Rusted Jackets on FB, which now has close to 200 members :rock:

It's been a wonderful year getting to know our F30, as well as each other. The former at times can be bitter-sweet, but the latter has been nothing but awesome! Despite the range of characters &personalities, somehow the passion for our UDM has bonded us together. I've lost count on the number of group buys.. all r great deals, altho some I don't really need/want and wldn't hav join if I knew what they were up front! But it goes to show how much trust and goodwill we hav among us that I know (when I'm preoccupied) I can depend on the collective judgement of this bunch of fun loving & level headed car enthusiasts :top:

I am quite new to TRJ and had the opportunity to meet some of you guys when we met up at Sunway for the struts group buy as well as at the Bimmerfest. Both were fun and memorable meet ups. Hope to be involved in more outings.
