DEar all ,
I just got my e60 523 end 2006, N52 engine. The previous owner use only shell 97, after i took over, i use only 95 mobil. car milleage is good. when full tank is about 700km. For the last 2 day, after i pump full tank, its total running milleage before 505km and can become very petrol consuming. I wonder what happen.

car just oil change , air filter is good and no fault in the car.

Question, why the running milleage dropping so much ? should i change back to 97 ?Thankyou.

i think it depends more on the route you travelled rather than due to 95 or 97. 700km distance is more like light footed highway driving while 500km is probably 70% city 30% highway. pls recall how u drive to double confirm.

I can get 700-800km with a full tank of 97 highway driving with once in a while spirited drive of 200km/hr in my E39. Did KL-Taiping-KL with some town driving in Taiping during Raya break with less than half tank.Never use 95 before, so can't comment. However, for town driving stop-go traffic going to and back from work will be around 500km

I also experienced lack of power using RON95, therefore my E60 using RON97 Shell VPower. Mileage is about 580km-600km per full tank mixed driving. I guess I can stick with it for now.

My e60 pump BHP RON 97 full tank RM165 = 800km.... when i pump Shell Vpower 97 the mileage is lower by 80 to 100km.... I m sticking to BHP only for now..

Wow 800km for full tank. That's very good. What model is your E60 bro if I may ask. I can only get around 480km with another maybe 60-80km in tank (combine driving).

Mine is normally 500KM++ for a full tank of mixed city/expressway driving. 800KM is achievable if you're doing highways and if you don't speed too much :)

My 325 which is my daily mule is now exclusively on 95. 530 is mixed, but mostly on 95. I use 97 every 5 or 6 refuels and when I want to go long distance. So far I do not see any adverse effects.

I never been using ron97 since bought my msport yrs ago. so far no problem, can achieve 530 km per full tank.

RON 95 will certainly work for E60 but I can really feel some performance drop. If the govt is really honest they should reduce the price of our petrol since world crude oil price have dropped.

I have used Ron 97 and 95 on my E60 520. I find that on Ron 95 the engine is less responsive. On Ron 97, its more responsive but only thing is that it becomes a bit expensive. However, i have continued to use Ron 97 from then on...

Same case for me. RON 95 would work but the car is simply too intelligent :) I guess the knocking sensor is doing it's job so the moment you have RON 95, it changes to another map and you get lower performance. I'm using on RON 97 and only pump RON 95 once in a blue moon. I only wish petrol is more reasonably priced in Malaysia :(

I think the petrol prices here are ok, comparing what our neighbours pay.

I think it's not ok at all because we should compare against other oil producing nation whereby Malaysia is one of the most expensive among all :) Remember that we are a nett exporter and not importer. If you buy bananas in UK, it's expensive because they don't have them. If we grow bananas here and sell slightly cheaper like the price we are getting in UK, it's not an "OK" price at all too.

Yeah, correct correct correct!

BTW, i am on BHP, i feel the drive and mileage is better then shell or petronas!

Guess there are always 2 sides of argument when it comes to petrol price.

Some may argue that petrol is a commodity & hence, should be priced in accordance to world price. As it is now, I'm paying around AUD1.50/l for Ron95 which is nearly RM4.80

On the other, the argument put forward by bro Aoch88 is not wrong either. Considering that Msia is a net exporter nation, the price of petrol is considered high especially if we do not convert. In short, our purchasing power is much lower..

That's my 1 sen opinion...hehe.:smokin:

Net exporter with only 650k bpd can't be compared with Opec producers of >1mil bpd, our net export is only marginal. But I do agree with oil price been around usd85++ for the past 2 months, the gomen takes quite a while to adjust the price accordingly.

Malaysia is just only steps away from importer... So the arguement of we are an exporter will not work soon. Anyway, even if we are exporter, with our current situation and way of spending, the government has no money for that...

Just talked to a friend in construction line and they deal with government projects. You will understand why the government has no money when you hear the real story...

I agree that we cannot use "nett exporter" as the reason anymore someday but before we reach to that point, let's ponder these few things:

1. As we are still a nett exporter, our country earned a lot of money from petroleum and I'm not sure if anyone would disagree but the natural resources from our country should somehow be channeled back to it's people and not to specific groups of individuals. The question is, what happened to it?

2. It is alright to float and sell at the global market rate but if we compare with other oil producing nations, their petrol are dirt cheap, their cars are also cheap. Why is it in Malaysia that we have expensive petrol, expensive cars, tolls all over the place, high road taxes. It would only be fair to stop subsidizing petrol but at the same time STOP putting a hefty tax on cars, reduce the road tax to a reasonable level or make better roads, remove the tolls.

3. People in Thailand might be paying a bit more for petrol but they have good roads, their cars are cheap, the road tax is also cheap and they have much much lesser toll booths. There must be a balance, everything cannot be expensive and even if it does, where did all the money go? I'm all for it if they government wants to abolish the subsidy and follow world oil prices but a F10 535 is approximately RM240K in the UK (inclusive of 20% VAT) but it's doubled here in Malaysia at RM450K-480K. Imagine the amount of petrol you can pump for RM200K.

Hi Bro, mine is E60 530 Msport LCI model.....
