It's like drinking oldtown coffee mix with Starbucks :)

Guys..some info..

Octane quality is one of the many properties of fuel that is often associated with power and improved engine efficiency that is measured by the international standard for fuel, RON.

1. What is RON?
RON stands for Research Octane Number. It measures the combustion properties of the fuel.

2. What do the numbers 95 and 97 mean?
The numbers 95 and 97 represent the minimum RON value of a fuel that will prevent “engine knocking”.

3. What is “Engine knocking”?
Engine knocking happens when fuel combusts prematurely before ignition by the spark plug, which causes a “knocking” effect, resulting in loss of power. Using the appropriate minimum RON fuel that is recommended by your vehicle manufacturer will ensure that combustion happens at the right time to avoid “engine knocking”.

4. What is the minimum RON requirement for my car?
Your vehicle’s manual should specify what minimum RON value fuel to use. Sometimes, this information is printed on or around the refuelling cap. If unsure, please check with your vehicle manufacturer, authorised vehicle distributor or with an authorised mechanic

5. Can I use RON 95?
That depends on your engine. Your vehicle can use RON 95 if it is designed or set for RON 95 or lower. However, the best thing to do is to check with your vehicle manufacturer, authorised vehicle distributor or with an authorised mechanic.

6. What RON works best for my vehicle?
You should always use a fuel that meets or exceeds the minimum RON recommended by the vehicle manufacturer or authorised mechanic.

7. Can I mix RON 95 with RON 97?
As long as the fuel meets or exceeds the minimum RON required by the engine, mixing is fine and should not damage your engine. .

8. I am looking for power and performance, what is the RON value of Shell V-Power Racing?
Shell V-Power Racing has a minimum value of RON 97. However, octane quality is only ONE of the many qualities associated with power and engine efficiency.

Besides having the properties designated by its RON rating, Shell V-Power Racing is a high performance fuel with a specially engineered fuel formulation designed to help improve responsiveness, acceleration and power. It’s Friction Modification Technology (FMT), is the exact same technology used by Ferrari’s F1 team – a proud result of 60 years of Shell’s research and technical partnership with Ferrari.

Shell also ensures careful selection of the base fuel components used for Shell V-Power Racing to increase combustion efficiency, and incorporates other important fuel additives that clean and remove existing deposits from the engine.

9. How different is Shell’s Unleaded 95 from the Shell Super Unleaded 97?
Shell has been developing fuels for the last 100 years, perfecting formulas to help you get the most out of every drop. Our Shell Unleaded 95 fuel will also contain the Fuel Economy formula designed to give you extra kilometres at no additional cost.

10. What else is Shell doing to help drivers save fuel?
Shell is committed to ensuring that you get the most out of every drop. Besides bringing you innovative fuels that give your car the added distance, we are also educating drivers on good driving habits through Shell’s FuelSave tips that will help motorists save up to 10% in fuel consumption.

Try not the mix because you dunno what reaction you will get when mixing the additive from different fuel, base product of both fuel is actually the same but the type and amount of additive between the fuel or brand is different.. having said that, it's also not encourage to mix fuel of different brand be it the same RON. One thing for sure, it won't damage your engine, only thing is you probably won't enjoy the full benefit from the additives, be it the friction modifier or cleansing additive.

Kay.G,

Do you copy these info direct from the net ? it seem like promoting Shell fuel and words from the promotion brouchuer.

In my own opinion, if we are discussing about fuel efficiency and mixture of petrol, we should not only look at one or two brand only. If those words came from a brochuer or net, it will misslead or limit to one answer which is not fair towards others brand.

Each company has their own formula and there is not actual answer of right or wrong which i consider it as double side sword. If we were to appraisal the performance of those fuel before or after mixture then there are some key element which we need to highlight as point for measurement ie:-numbers, figure, car's condition, usesage & driving style, car and roads will play a critical roles for discussion.

I am fully agree with astroboy on his comment.

RON 95 for the last 3 months. never mix. so far so good. no knocking. performance still the same.
But my fren's new alfa 169, cannot accept RON95. knock ! knock !

Btw, anyone knows what's the price for RON97 V-Power racing these days?

Been mixing Ron97 & 95 for town driving, ratio 35 litre 97 the rest 95. Don't feel that much different or I'm just oblivious of any feel..hehehe. But on long distance prefer the 97.

I agree, in long distance i also use 97. But anyone try the Vpower for long distance b4 ? to pay 200++ for experiment to try out is very tooth ache for me.

V-Power racing RM3 sounds not so bad after all. Unfortunately not all stations have it. Perhaps I should pump it for my Raya trip end of the month :) More ooomph?

I know Shell at Sri Petaling & Awan Besar R&R (Kesas, Klang bound) has it, but a full tank is almost RM200, ouch!

DEar all ,
I just got my e60 523 end 2006, N52 engine. The previous owner use only shell 97, after i took over, i use only 95 mobil. car milleage is good. when full tank is about 700km. For the last 2 day, after i pump full tank, its total running milleage before 505km and can become very petrol consuming. I wonder what happen.

car just oil change , air filter is good and no fault in the car.

Question, why the running milleage dropping so much ? should i change back to 97 ?Thankyou.

I used RON 97 for my E39 most of the time , but at times i tried RON 95 - i felt the car just dowana move, screaming but still there although i floor the pedal . RON 97 was good and V power was commendable . For my e60 i have never tried RON 95 yet . KL-JB on V-power , the car finished 1/2 tank.

I use 95 oni hiway or city and can still tapau many car. 1 thing I dun mix petrol ron and brand

thankyou for the comment, shall i check my fuel filter ? or i should change back to shell 97? cause its too much different.
