Hi All Bro,Need some advice, today the front Tyre when thru a pothole and after that i check there is a bulge (kembang) at the sidewall (around a size of a dumpling). So far alignment and balancing wise i think is still ok but do you think is safe to drive from JB back to KL because tmr i am going to back to KL and i cant any shop here that sells RFT or do you think i should just change to a normal tyre. Thanks

Best to change before you leave. RFT gets very, very hot on long distance travel so there could be a risk of a blowout from that weak spot. Many already changed to normal tyre from RFT without issues.

If you really have to drive back to KL with the bulging tyre. My advise is to reduce your speed and take it easy during the journey and stop to check tyre condition regularly.

Thanks guys... So if i just change the only one to normal tyre and others remained as RFT is fine right? Headache!!

bro it is not advisable to change just one to normal tyre because it will upset your suspension and ride in the long run because RFT is of harder compound. it happen to me as well so got to change all the tyre and one more thing if your tyres are of same batch there is more likelihood that the other three will have the same problem sooner rather than later.

I lived with a small bulge on the sidewall my old Falken 912 for about a year months few years back. Didn't wanted to replace it last time as tires are still very new, about 80% left. Rotated the tire to the back and drove for on until tyre wear is left with about 20-30% then got it replaced.

Thinking back, I was really dumb and naive. Could have got myself killed should a tire blowout happens.

Do change it immediately should you have the time and can find a replacement. Tyre is the only contact between the car and road surface. Not worth waiting sometimes.

Thanks bro for all the recommendation to get it change. Decided to change it as tmr i will have to fetch my parents to KL (so better be safe). I change to goodyear F1 (non-RFT) as other brand are so hard to get and mostly they dont have stock. I will change the other front tyre when i am back in KL (cant tahan the shop that i when to..... do 1 min the away 2 min).

Magpie, it is not recommended to mix RFT and normal tyres. Just sharing my experiences when I'm on RFT at the rear since the tyre is in different size ( staggered setup on msport). Your car will not feel planted and feel like going all over the place. It is significantly affect your handling. The suspension will worn out pre-maturely.
Wingzee, I had the same experience on Falken 912, driven back with the bulged tyre from JB to KL. The tyre had a blow-out on high speed, I'm so lucky it was the rear tyre. Stranded on a plus highway near RNR Ayer Keroh. Rescued by AAM next morning when the tyre shop open.

Bulge on the side wall signifies side wall steel belt compromised/snapped and will spread and become worst.

If you still have 80% tread left, tyre should still be under warranty and can claim 80% value based on the unutilised tread. Subjected to no pinch mark found on both internal and external surface. If pinch marks found, manufacturer will deny claim and blame the owner (under inflation) or the road (act of God), not manufacturer's fault.

I have heard many Falken tyre side wall failure, I already struck it off my shopping list long ago.

Repair kit won't take care of side wall damage. The full kit cost about RM600, available at all authorised dealers, comes with 12V DC compressor and 1.5L of sealer which has expiration date of if not mistaken, 5 years..

I bought a compressor for about RM130 and yet to buy the sealer.

Many types in the market, ranging from RM25 ~ RM45 per can, aerosol type.. most DIY shop has..

I know some of us keep 2 cans of the sealer and since it comes with compressed air, the 12V DC pump also no need.

As I mentioned earlier, I'm running on that setup for some time. The rear is both RFT and the front is both normal tyres. It is not recommended and will affect your handling. The reason being RFT is having a stiffer side wall vs softer wall for normal tyre and will not be a good mixture .

I'm on RFT in front and normal tubeless at the rear now.. handling?! I don't drive fast... so dunno.. :4:

alright got both the front change to normal tyre and both the back still on RFT. i only notice it is softer at the front now and as for handling need to have the chance the drive fast only can comment. Anyway my Rear RFT also left

After served me more than 2 years (>60k KM), finally replaced my GY F1 A2, with PS3.
Honestly, i miss the A2 once on PS3. May be i need to give some run in period for PS3. I should wait for the A2 (255/35/18) arrived, as i was told the A2 already out of stock in most of the tyre shops for more than a month.
I just noticed a bulge appeared on my A2 rear tyre, inner part, it should be there for quite sometimes, luckily nothing happened so far.

Around RM920, cant recall. But A2 overall cost me ~RM3.3K for 4 tyres. PS3 almost the same, ~RM3.2K.
