Hi guys, i've been reading your post and found quite usefull information about the BMW e46 but I've got some questions to ask so i decided to register and post here.I always wanted a continental car and BMW is always my choice and also i like to speed alot, guess the 325 is good for me. So my question is how much normaly you guys spend to mantain a car like this?? i know the question is subjective but i want to know the range spend lets say a year.

waja spare part cheaper than bmw lar bro... e46 318i juz 2 months in my hand, 2 x breakdown and spend around 5k already

wow, thats expansive... haitzzz, guess my dream of owning one now is impossible, guess it will have to wait till i am working...

Got my car in early march 2009 and got everything fixed- total spending RM 22,474.40 and still counting if i ever plan to do the exteriors.

*Note : I'm fussy, so i kinda fix anything that doesn't look new :p

no need to be dissapointed bro.
there are other models to choose from.
e36, e30, e32, e34, e39........
still cheaper than the vios, power and handling cannot come close.
when you are working, then u can either upgrade or add.

wow!! you serious?? hahaha...

i got my e46 318 (00) since sept last year. when i bought the car mileage was 100,000 km. so far i've only spent 4.5K doing it up plus normal servicing every 10,000 km and the car has no major problems whatsoever....

but waitaminit...did you say you're not working yet? sorry bro, can't suggest to buy a bimmer. buy it when you have your own cash, the feeling is much better...really.

Dont despair, you only heard a few of the hardcore members voiced their opinions. I am sure some other e46 owners would think otherwise. Having said that, its true that bmw maintenance could be higher than vios or city or whichever of that class...even a waja. !! but the feeling of owning and driving an UDM is far more satisfying and rewarding compared to the mentioned.

Read more ... and good luck. :top:

i dont mind spending more in mantaining a BMW but if it difference like 10-20k a year then its beyond my budget thx alot for the feedback all of you, i hope to see more accurate mantainance for a e46...

When I owned my E36 decades ago, I was jobless too.. :p Who never go jobless before?! :D

What own cash? Until today, after what, 7 cars owned later, I am still using Bank's money to buy car. Using own money smart meh? :stupid: U think the late Uncle Lim use own money to open casino meh? :D

Pssst.. don't tell your father I told u this.. Don't tell my son too.. :p

channel your passion towards getting what you want. nothing is impossible...

if all else fails, get a sugar mummy...

Listen to your mum.. she know best..

Rather than using the money to buy a car that might cost you a lot in maintenance, why dont save the money for further study. Built your career first, settle down, start a family and then own a UDM when you ready for it..

Get your priority right first.

rule of thumb...if you're gonna get a second hand car, try to get one that has full service records and have it checked by a bmw specialist before purchase. thats how i got my car. bought it from a guy who sayang the car more than his wife....

If i am at your age i would get a Mazda RX8 or something really fast. Not get an uncle's car. hehe :)
