I bought the tire sealant and compressor from an old buddy at Quicksave for RM180. Michelin PS3 non-RFT 225/45/17 were around RM590 all around USJ. Nobody had PS3 255/40/17 only PS2.

Yeap, zhul and I did EXTENSIVE researching/running around town when our tyres went botak ...for non RFTs you have to mix PS2 tyres and PS3 tyres for our staggered 320d rims-which is not a good idea. Only 2 bloody options for non RFTS for our 320d-Falken or Dunlop. The next choice for RFTs would be CSC and they cost close to 3K ringgit each in Malaysia!

Anybody out there riding on non-rft with ps3 so far? i'm with 225/45/r17 csc 2 ssr at the moment, 45k km.. botak d.. its time to look for pairs of shoes.
I need feedback on non-rft riders.. thanks..
fyi, i'm travelling 100km per day at highway...

Had my first unpleasant experience of an irreparable puncture on my front rft.

Got it changed at kw auto tyre service in jln sg besi
Bridgestone re050a 225/45/17 mfg 48/10 - RM 1,080
Also enquired on
255/40/17 - newer stocks - best price $1500, end '08 stocks - $1300
They also carry continental rft for same price
Great service - even tho' I only changed one tyre, they gave me a complimentary Tyre balancing on all 4, plus even thoroughly clean my rims too. Highly recommended as they sell lots of rft

I reckon I might get that one. Been running on non-RFT since September last year without a spare OR a tire sealant. Do these babies work?

Any idea how to patch these RFT. I have a slow puncture that losses 30% pressure over a period of 7 days. Have yet to check the tyre but I heard tire shop are quire reluctant to uninstall the tire as they have been known to break. It seems it only good for one time installation due to the rigidity of the side wall on these RFT

they need to find the hole first, if it's not on the sidewalls, there's hope for a repair. Also, if the tyres are no more than 1.5yrs old, removing from the rims are no problems for an internal patch. otherwise, external patch is worth a try too. i had a big nail in my tyres, and got it patched internally a few months ago. till now, no issues (even after hard driving). all the best.

KW was recommended by my BMW SA

It's near Auto Bavaria, Sg Besi - more specifically, if u r coming from KL to Sg Besi, they are at a few doors away from Honda Service Centre but before Audi. KW is located along the industrial shops which also house a windscreen specialist and some motor workshops. Their signage is Michelin. The owner's name is Tan, quite friendly chap and he claims he does a lot of jobs for BMW and audi. Just say u r BMW forum club member and he usually is more obliging.

I think his price is nego because he quoted me RM 1630 for the new re050a 255/40/17 and brought it down to RM 1500. Thus, I believe the Year 08 tyres can still be nego. Kinda regretted didnt press him further on the 225/45/17 as I was desperate. Nevertheless, RM 1080 seems to be reasoanable if you considered they balanced all my 4 tyres and cleaned my rims for me too

The workers there are very friendly and pro.

Folks,

Any suggestion where I can start looking for 18" RFTs. Mine are starting to look like my bald, shiny head. Clocking 1000km/week is really taking its toll on my ride.

Cheerz!

Bro, earlier in this thread, Schwepps had a great recommendation. See below:

2. 255/35/ZR18 88Y - Michelin PS2, RM1,400
Made in France

Vision Auto (TOMS')
Jalan Maarof, Bangsar KL.

Cheaper in Malaysia...for once. :top:

Otherwise, you might want to check with Hup Shun in SS3 too, near to where we are. The guys there can source for the rubbers for you and give you a quote. All the best! Quick query if you don't mind me asking - how much was it to swap to 18"-ers from the original stock 17"s??

thanks for the info bro. i should have clarified my original question - how much would the approximate cost be for an upgrade (including the trade in) from stock msport 17" to 18" tires?

Bro Maniac,

My ride was a demo unit earlier. The wheels came with my ride when purchased. Not sure how much it would cost to change from the original 17" to 18".

Cheerz!

Nice...i love those 18" M's. :top:
perhaps consider going non-RFT for a change in comfort, thread wear and cost...i'll also have to make the decision in a few months. the stock bridgestones are wearing down quite rapidly

Continental manufactures RFT Tyres?

yup, the Conti SSR (Self Supporting Runflats) range. You can still get the CSC or CPC tires in this range, i believe.
