just changed to Michelin P3 235/45/17 from rfts. Quieter, more comfortable ride :)

Changed to Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2. Very satisfied. Good comfort, handling in both wet and dry are superb. Plus they are a lot lighter than my previous Bridgestone RFT. So.. hopefully fuel economy will increase! Unless.. i can't help my heavy right foot :p

Hi all,

Need advise about it and first time to change my tyres,
My CSC2 SSR 225/45/17 Germany RFT almost reach to 40k + km and need to get a new 4 set but still confuse the different between CSC2/3/5 etc?

Do you know the price range for CSC2/3?

And which is better Conti or Pirelli?

Thanks in advance!

Bro, u made the right choice :top:

My 4 months old AS2 still have very good thread, doesn't have any significant wear (im hard footer as well ). The handling & cornering way better than RFT. I do enjoy everyday! But the only downside is the noise level, not much improve compare RFT, even after run in.

Bro, do share with us your ride after run in the tyre.

Folks,

I'm planning to drive down to Singapore this weekend to change my rear rubbers. Where can I get comparatively lower priced rubbers in Singapore? I have 18 in. wheels and plan to get RFTs. Appreciate your views.

Cheerz!

My front still has plenty of life (rft) but my rear is near illegal. Can I just change my rear to non-rtf? Or should I swap my front to back and use non-rtf for the front?

Would be grateful if anyone can share or advise.

If yours is not staggered setup then probably you could swap front & rear tyre. But consider the rear is worn out, so better change new set. Non RFT or RFT should be fine to be fitted in our stock wheel which support both. But is always advisable that better thread tyre (newer) should be installed at REAR instead of front, for our FR (real wheel drive) E90.

I was just reading the other forums. Some say its ok to have non-RTF and RTF combo for front and rear (which ever configuration). Some say the behaviour of the tires will be different resulting in weird handling behaviour.

Personally, before owning a BM, I have used different tires (all non-RTF, of course) and there is not difference in the handling.

I am tempted to try RTF/non-RTF set up as I don't push the car to the extreme anyway. With the RTF swapped to the rear so that it will wear out faster. Once the existing RTF wears out, then I will go for all non-RTF since other forum members have sworn by it. Now I need to search a spare tire or tire saving kit.

I thought of an idea of switching from rft to non rft...
Not having a spare but joining AAM instead. Any comments on thats ?
Have someone tried it.
Looking at the possibility of having a flat tire rather low for me....

Hikaru and loserparadise,

i have all rft replaced with nonrft (some punctured, the rest were worn)
i've run mixed (rear non rft) and front rfts for quite some time (few months) and it was not a problem.
i travel heavily and instead of relying to AAM (which is not a bad idea too) I've fixed a spare tyre in my trunk.
and it proved to be a very handy thing to have (twice used it when my tyres were punctured).

Folks,

I found the answer. It is Arrow Tyres in Serangoon. Will be going there on Friday. Appointment set with Mr. Alvin. Changing my rear rubbers after clocking almost 60,000 km on them. Front ones can last maybe another 15k km.

Cheers!

Currently running rear on Non-RFT (Goodyear A2) and front on RFT (Potenza). Firstly you will notice that the Non-RFT will lean a little more when cornering as the sidewall is less stiff compared to RFTs. After awhile did not notice the difference and currently waiting for my front RFT to run down so I can switch to Non-RFTs. As A2 feels more planted in the wet as compared to Potenza RFT, you will need to pay a little extra care when the road conditions are wet. Apart from the above, all is great

Now the issues is which brand to go for. I have been a Michelin guy and am still thinking of Michelin. What would be the best brand to go for if my budget is only around 600 per corner for 225/45/17?

Folks,

I got my rubber changed yesterday. Did not do it at Arrows. They did not have stock for my size. I went to Autokinetics at Macpherson Road. Excellent reviews online and all those proven true when I met Jake and his partners there. Excellent service!! Very reasonable price. I got my Pzero 255/35 R18 RFTs for $540 per piece. Made in UK in May 2011. Highly recommended. Give them a try!!

Cheers!

The thread was started for RFT's.... start another for Non-rft

Ladies and gents,

the thread was started for RFT tires current prices ..
It has gotten out of tangent now.

Why don't someone start another thread for non-rft lovers....

questions and comments on RFT's now get lost among tons of discussion on non-rft's

I have no qualms about "convetional" tires , but lets separate the matters all togehter.

o.k :top:

anyway has anybody tried the CSC5 rft's..What's the going prices now?

Just bought a pair of Michelin Primacy HPs 225/17/45 for RM1200 a pop. At Tan & Tan Tires along Jalan Sg Besi. Just after AB Sg Besi. These are supposed to give softer ride. So far so good.

According to them, RFTs from Pirelli (eufori), Bridgestone and Michelin are now going for RM1200 but Conti is at a premium ie RM1350 - sorry didn't enquire which models but these were all for 225/17/45s

Greetings,
Changed my rear tyres at 25,000 km.
Type: Bridgestone Potenza RE050 ( 255/40/17) RFT - " for peace of mind"
Date of manufatured : 17th week of 2011
Price: RM 1250 each
Place: Touch Autocar Care in Puchong ( behind UOB- Conti dealer), phone no. 80701596/80766424
Date: 30th Dec. 2011

I think that is a good buy and they may have 1 more pair in stock .
Cheers.
