I think it's a typo on doc's part. Should b 225 and not 255 on the fronts. No way u can get 255 for $540 anyway. Mixing different tyre types and even brands is ok as long as they are on the same axle.

Btw doc, I had my left front and rear rims hot pressed too when I changed one of my punctured rft a couple of months ago. Charged $95 per rim. And like you, they 'discovered' it after a courtesy balancing on the other wheels. Hmmm! Wonder of it's some ploy but let's give them the benefit of doubt first. On the camber adj, can't comment on it as I didnt do alignment but I do read on motoring mags that in the absence of a camber adj kit/screw on the wheels, we should avoid high pressure camber adj tools as we may risk damaging the components. Anyone care to verify?

Don't know zilch about camber adjustments-you guys done yours recently?

the rears wear down much faster than the front because of our RWD.

The rears wear down faster because you rempit your 320d all the time :D

I know, I speak from experience :D Now keeping an eye on the non-RFT Michelins, so far nothing serious after 3 months and I don't expect there to be much until later in the year I guess.

Change all my tyres today to non-RFT. Used Conti C3. Damage RM860/pc with nice Conti tube (FOC). Now I need Slime Smart Spair! Nicer, smoother ride. I like!

Gonna upgrade my rims to 18" BBS alloys. Asked the SA about it to see if there are any issues. He says fine to change but alignment cannot be done by them as non-BMW rims are not compatible with the alignment tools at BMW SA's. Can anyone confirm this? Was advised to leave my old 17"ers at the SA so that they can use the ori rims to do alignment and fit back the 18"ers once the alignment done. Any comments?

reading this, noted that it is better to use non RFT tyres. Unless you have very deep pocket to spend for tyre replacement.

Looks like not all punctured RFT tyres are repairable. Anyway how do they patch RFt tyres? is like normal RM5 patch? If your car punctured and immediately decide to stop at road side, better just call tow truck instead of drive further which might cause RFT tyre further damage?

Had to patch up the tire twice in 2 days as there was two leak. RM5 patch did the job!! ANyway called Bridgerstone and they confirm you cant dissemble the tyre from the rim as it'll break the tyre wall due to its rigidity!!

Pointer make sure the dudes never use the air gun to open your nuts as they grinded away the BMW lock nut!!

Had that happen to my ex-pug 307SW. Had to resort to welding to loosen and remove the lock nut.

ouch I wouldn;t have done that as the electrical surge from the welding rod can fry your ecu and most part of the car!!

They are especially a big no no especially where there is a ball bearing located nearby!!

Anyone has any recent info and recommendation on tyre brands/models and shop to visit for 205/55/16 RFT's?

My 1er is still on her 1st set since she left showroom 2 years ago and is currently on Bridgestone Turanza ER300 RFT.

Also if you know the estimated price that'd be great.

Cheers.
