latest on RFT's 18"

Hi Guys,

Front RFT 255/40 R18
Back RFT 255/35 R18

I have been looking for replacements for my RFT's the last 2 weeks and here's a summary:-

1. Conti - not available for these specs
2. Bridgestone RE050 - price have gone up about RM100+ for each
3. Michelin - Only PS2 has these specs. NO STOCK (in Mal and SG)
4. Pirelli - almost RM8.5k (from Vision Auto)

Even if there is stock for PS2, Vision Auto sells it abt same price as the RE050. The RM currency must have gone down a lot since Oct 10!). Michelin are apparently out of stock for a long while now for these.

As for the earlier pricing for Hup Shun, if you have read the experiences customers had there... I will be wary to even accidentally venture there!

All the tyres are abt 30% cheaper in SG (even at RM2.5 xchange rate!) and JB is abt 5% more expensive than KL.

If anyone has a better deal anywhere else, appreciate it.

Guys, is there any restriction on replacing our tires in Singapore in term of shopping tax? Or just go there and change, then on returning home just smile to custom officers ? Thanks.

lol... unless u plan to bring back ur old tyres in ur boot....
otherwise, custom officers won't even know that ur new tyres were changed in Singapore.

Try Hup Soon in Sunway. got a deal around 1800 - 1900 for P Zeros 18's last year.
They're real sticky tyres and I just love it. So much better than previous Bridgestones.

Just changed my rear tires to Goodyear A2 (245/40/R17) for RM740. Price inclusive of wheel balancing & its non-RFT

bro are you on stock staggered m-sport rims? they're meant to be 255's...how are you finding the new A2's with the thinner width?
for sharing, i contacted goodyear and they said that the 255/40/17's would be available in Q2 next year.

Bro, yes I am on staggered rims but A2 don't come in 255's. So have to go for 245's. While driving back, noticed tat my rear tires are quieter than the front (front are still RFTs - 225/45/R17 Potenza 050A. Did not change as my front still has plenty of thread left). While driving over speed humps and paint strips on roads, rear tires are softer and more forgiving than the front. However, did noticed tat d back of the car lean a little more at corners (not really a big difference). Suspect it is due to the softer sidewall for non-RFT rather than the thinner width. Grip on dry is good though

Finally had to go change my rubbers at KW auto tyre today...

Bridgestone RFT 225/45/17 - RM1200
255/40/17 - RM1550

According to Mr.Tan price increase already last couple of months....somehow the new set of rubbers seem to have a less bumpy ride compared to the old tyres. Not sure if there is new technology but it sure felt like it is a more comfortable ride.

Also found 3 rims seem to have deformed a bit and needed some cold press work to reshape at RM100 per piece. Overall great service and also gotten complimentary balancing and rims cleaned too.

They also found out that rear brake pads are wearing out fast...still left ~30%. Anyone has experience changing the brake pads before service is due? Still has 7000km to go before next service. My mileage today is 43555km when I changed the tyres...let see how long this new set will last.....

Wow.... this is about RM200-RM500 cheaper than the 2009 prices per piece!!! Is this shop behind CIMB?

anyone got the price for the CSC5?

Anybody got the price for the CSC5?
I'm using the potenzas right now. Ride is superb for RFT's.
Just wondering how they compare to the CSC5.

had mine replaced with Dunlop Sports Maxx TT 255/45/17 for RM800 a piece at Kuantan (as of being rescued after shop business hours)
and another piece at Autoplus Car Care Shah Alam sec 27 for RM750. These are old models by the way.hard to find them around anymore.

So far no complaints! good grip, dry and wet.

Just curious in our potenza re050 rft tire, how many KM last longer?

my rears last not even 20,000km.life shortened thanks to big punctures,
fronts botak already nearing 30,000km.

tread wear of these tires are rated at 140 mind you.

I'm changing mine to Goodyear A2.nothing but positive reviews from all over the world.
treadware at 280.if I'm not mistaken.so it should last longer

Anyhow it all depends on our driving style though. mine were as above as i drive the car pretty hard. :-D
