Hi, i am new here and this is gonna be the first conti ride in my family, all the time riding a Japanese. Planning to purchase this ride for my wife and as all you guys know.... you will probably end up paying for all the repair bills. So, my main intention here is to ask for some advise from all the sifus here.1. Is a 2002/2008 E46 325ci worth buying? will parts be a problem in comparison with the sedans? 2. What is the common problem for purchasing a 10 year old beemer. 3. Roughly, what sort of repairs am i m gonna expect from it since it is a 10 year old ride? expected amount to budget for initial repairs?Friends have been saying this to me 'Are u nuts? why buy a 10 year old beemer?' my reason is i cant afford a newer beemer but always love and dream of owing one. Sorry if such posting have been mentioned here many times but in a urgent need of answers since i m planning to purchase one anytime this week. Actually just test driven one earlier today, loving it and looking good (from the outside). Thanks in advance.

ouch 3.0 for my wife??? already driving a 3.0 japanese now and adding another one to the collection is just making me poorer

I myself has recently bought a 10 year old E46 325i SMG without sending it to workshop or a mechanic to look at it. I buy it base on gut feel and well.. I am right about my choice and I've no regrets and enjoying every single bit of the car and still very happy about it.

At the end of the day, if you really like something, go ahead, if monetary is an issue or safe bet.. then get a Jap. Don't rush into buying one, test drive a few more, until you find one that you really like, get a mechanic to check the car first and roughly gauge the repairs needed/required. For 10 year old car, some are good condition, some are pretty bad, it all boils down to how the previous owner take care of it.

Oh, I allocated 2k for the repairs and some wear and tear but then again, it varies.

if you have $$$, Bring More Women
if you don't $$$, Bring More Worries

Cheers mate!

Good to hear that you found a good condition unit. I m prepared to put a side some funds to fix the ride up knowing it is a decade old. Just crossing my fingers in case i end up buying a lemon ride.

Test driven a few unit today and also decided to give the sedan a try. Loving the test drive so far, might even plan to sell my japanese ride and replace with conti.

Sorry for the late reply. Yup purchased a unit 2 weeks back, decided to grab a sedan 318i instead since it is for my wife as her daily workhorse. Was busy fixing up the ride on minor repairs, replacements of parts and exterior cosmetics. Been driving it for the past 2 weeks and i have to admit, it is a pleasure to drive a conti car. Already planning to sell my japanese to replace it with another udm :top:
