I went to AB's new owner's workshop... they advised that my 320d's service interval is 15k (under BSRI) but they've advised to change the oil at about 7/8k. Has anyone done this? I'm reluctant to go back to AB to do this. Any suggestions on where to change the oil?

For diesel engines better to go service at 7k. After 10k, the engine start to have loud noise. It also need to change the oil filter since our malaysian diesel is very dirty.

Bro. tcyeow,

If under BSRI I think you have no choice to go back to BMW Service Centre but it not necessory to be AB. It can be Quill Auto, Ingress or other authorize service centre by BMW.

But mind to share why you reluctant to go to AB's ? and which AB's you refer to?

I was told that this mid-interval oil change is self-borne and need not go back to any of the dealers who charge a bomb on labour. I'm just looking for alternatives. After all it's only for oil and filter change.

Hey guys,

I am on 328i here but just want to check with you guys if petrol is the same? My service interval was set at 28k which is pretty high?

Markx85, I was made to believe that the service interval under BSRI for diesel is 15k whilst petrol is 20k... mid interval on your own.

Thanks tcyeow! Do you mean I can just stop by Auto Bavaria and get them to do the oil change and I need to pay them because it's not covered under BSRI? If I do it at 10k (Considering that I pay for this), do I need to pay when I do it at 20k too?

My understanding is you only need to pay for the mid-interval i.e. 10k, 30k and 50k. The 20k, 40k and 60k is covered by BSRI.

I've had my E90 320d for awhile now, never had any loud noises after 10k km. Malaysian diesel is not the best but let's it's not that bad.

tcyeow, if you send the car immediately after it goes below 5k km like me and you don't rempit all the time, you'll end up changing your engine oil roughly every 10-11k km. If you rempit a lot :D you might send it in as early as 8k km from the previous service. You don't have to wait until the indicator goes to 0 before you send it in. I've used AB, Quill and Ingress and they never deny me service.

Think about this if you're planning to do mid service oil change.

Thanks for the advice ... Will try not to rempit too much
