bro, menteri dalam berita semalam kata 'SEMUA KERETA TERMASUK KERETA YANG BERKUALITI TINGGI BOLEH MENGGUNAKAN MINYAK RON 95 DAN RON 97 AKAN DIJUAL PADA HARGA RM2.00 PER LITER. KEPERLUAN BAGI MINYAK RON97 ADALAH MELEBIHI DARIPADA KEPERLUAN'.

boleh guna, but kesannya tak tau le camne...

Check your fuel cap for the RON spec. This RON number is the stabilizer number. The higher the number, the more stable preventing premature ignition due to compression rather than waiting for spark plugs to ignite. They call it "knocking".

Later generation of engine are mostly higher in compression because more power, more efficient combustion. That's why they need higher RON fuel to avoid premature combustion or knocking.

Later generation of BMW has "knock" sensor but I dunno how it works to reduce "knocking".

RON 95 RM1.75 dan RON 97 RM2
rasa2 la.... u berani ke nak pakai RON 95 pada bmw u ni????

According to my car manual printed in 1994 for BMW 5 series-E34: 518i, 520i,525i,525ix,530i,540i:

Catalyst-equipped Cars :
*Unleaded Premiun - Minimum octane number 95 (RM) Euro Super. (See Note 1)

Without Catalyst converter:
*Unleaded Premiun - Minimum octane number 95 (RM) Euro Super.
*Premium - Minimum octane number 98 (RM) or premium fuel, minimum octane 95 (RM). (See Note 1)

Note 1: These engine versions with knock control can also run on fuel with a minimum octane number of 91 (RM); performance and fuel comsumption are affected as a result.

So what is your comment guys?

k k k .... t balik tgk... tapi engin dah tuka M52
masih sama lagi ke dengan tudung petrol tu??????

RON stands for Research Octane Number. Octane number or octane rating refers to the gasoline ability to withstand auto ignition (knocking) inside the engine. Higher octane number refers to higher ability of the oil to fight auto ignition. In other words, it means that RON95 is harder to ignite compared to RON92.

ya... saya dah cek dah... utk keta saya RON 91 - RON 98 maknanya kita pakai sekarang dah max.
maknanya bolehlah pakai RON 95

I used RON91 before for my N42 E46, ok je tapi end up consume more petrol so tak justify harga lagi murah tu. Bila tukar pakai V-power mmg rasa hampes la RON91 tu. Anyway knock sensor may retard our firing sequence to adapt to low RON fuel in eliminating the engine knocking but off course less power in return.

ya... tima kasih dengan sumbangan pengalaman tuan tuan...

kompresor accon e36 328i brapa ya yg potong punya... kalau ada member2 tahu kedai yg harga patut... huhuu...

sekian

I remember on one of FIFTH GEAR episode did a test on fuel grade affecting performance.

they took three cars of different performance level and tested it with the fuel available in UK. resetting the ECU before each Dyno-run to gauge the BHP output from each fuel.

Result is if you have a small ecomony tuned engine, the better grade fuel is just a waste of money and no performace gain possible.

if the engine is of high performance, then the higher the grade the higher the BHP output. and worth the extra $$ as it increase driving pleasure.

So I think the RON95 will work on most of our BMW engine but might suffer lower BHP output and may even cost more as more right foot pressure will be use to push the car

RM2 per litre is fine with me.

i think low power for ron92 due to they do not put their additive to ron 92 petrol due to low sale volume...for caltex they put the techron formula to both fuel grade...b4 this projet also like that...but for others i don't think so.
