I've almost taken the 520i mentioned. On testing all the buttons, the two rear power windows jammed. The cocky dealer refused to repair them prior to sale, claiming that the selling price is low enough...What the ***.
Anyway, i choose to continue my search. Fearing the 2nd hand cars potential problems, now a new Peugeot 407 is my 2nd choice.

soc,

dont worry. there are a lot of e39s around..but take your time. i am looking for a 530i...cant seem to have enuf of that glorious 6 cyl sound. havent found one good example yet. been driving my 528i over a year oredy..pretty much know the car's behaviour. 407 brand new saves you trouble...but resale gonna kill you.

bro,
  • If it's really just the rear power windows but the overall car is OK, why not ask for further discount?
  • Yes, Peugeot 407 is stunning both exterior and interior. But the rear leg room space is limited. You also need to consider the service & maintenance cost too!

Yes mine is up for LELONG! Desperate for a new owner...car is collecting dust at home now. Most of the old foggies know me here....i'll be a goner if I sell you a lemon....special 1 month warranty on engine and transmission for forumers....hahahaha....:top:

BUY! BUY! BUY!

p/s Thanks iceman13 and InitialM for the promosi....hahaha....no point keeping the car at home ...it's really under utilised. I think the car hardly moved 500km the last 6 months.

Definitely an idea Dato Yazid...hahaha...if I still have the car in 2020, I'll donate it to the club.:listen:

Hi Bro, i'm also looking for E39 as well. What is your opinion comparing 523 and 525 year 2000? Somehow i saw some forumers said 523 is better. The egine should be Double Vanos M52 right? Which model has more expensive to maintain? What should i check/inspect before decide buying the car from the dealer? It comes with 3 months warranty, hopefully it is true warranty.. hehe.. Thanks so much, appreciated!

525 is the best, second option is 528,

Should be the other way around. Better 530 or 540. The ultimate is M5

No replacement for displacement.:listen:

Hi Iceman,
Is the car still available?
What year and what model is it.
Looking around for 523 or 525 in very good condition.

check and double check

my dua sen....

for any e39 you think of buying without a history, please take the engine number and chassis number and go to bavarian auto to verify if the year and model correspond to the salesman's claim. I have come across wrongly quoted year of make before while shopping for one. Presumably to get a higher price by quoting a later year.

next, do check the meter panel (speedometer, etc) if it's been tampered with of changed. Many cars have their mileage re-clocked. One mechanic in subang offered to re-clock mine before for RM400. And a friend of mine when he changed his due to a fault, realised his mileage was actually higher as the on-board computer which stores such info reset the actual mileage on the new meter panel.

pre-facelift models with rear lights changed to face-lift ones need some conversion kit which sits under the spare tyre area. Sorry, can't remember what it's called. But it costs around RM600 not counting the rear lights set. If not installed, it will cause the rear face-lift lights to burnout.

oops, that was tiga sen actually. hope it helps. finally, if a salesman is too arrogant these days to make any repairs prior to a sale, just walk away. if they don't even care about what you can see, just imagine the areas you can't see. not worth the headache that will surely come later.
