Got home, came out of the car and was greeted with this... Wow, filthy!

Cannot stand the dirt and grime all over the car so I got home and gave her another ONR wash...

Bro, that it is a sign from the universe telling you to upgrade to an X5 hahahah

LOL. Aiyo, SUV like that will take even longer to clean bro! Hahaha. Wouldn't mind the additional ground clearance + wider wheels to tackle those pothole riddled roads!

Might be having problems with the car's gearbox. Drove to and from work this morning and kept hearing a buzzing sound. Couldn't exactly pinpoint the cause of the sound even after turning off the radio and coming out of the car and looking underneath the chassis with the engine running.

Only on my way home, near Summit did I notice my gearbox was acting up. Was in D when suddenly I felt loss of power and slight jerkiness. Had to immediately shift to 3 and luckily the car was able to last the journey home. :( Even had problems engaging Reverse gear after I had left it in R - felt a slight lag in the g'box before it moved. What could be the problem? Faulty gearbox or in need of a new set of oil? :(

Guess I can't use my E32 for the weekend travelling now.

Sigh...oh i can feel the extreme pain. Hopefully it is not something very serious.

Ah well. What is there to do but to send it for checkup and proper post-mortem huh? Am gonna try to take it for a spin again later in the evening after the weather clears up. I guess really need to send her in for repairs.

Good luck my friend

Thanks bro. Will keep you guys posted on the updates. Hope can sort on it over the weekend/before the New Year while I'm away outstation for Xmas.

Had been really looking forward to travelling up north with my E32 to stretch her legs...

keep us posted Eggie... and not forgetting a Merry Xmas and Happy new year to u.

Bro Eggie,

Sorry to hear about the old gal's gearbox ailment. Hopefully it's not anything serious. Keep us informed, and drive safely! Happy holidays & Happy New Year!

Update for today:

Will be sending in my car for service tomorrow. Really thought problem went away after I left her unused for the weekend and things seemed fine when I drove her until this morning when I wanted to reverse the car into the porch, which was a slight incline, and the car totally refused to budge. Even tried going head in but the same thing occurred; the car was seriously struggling to drive itself into the porch.

Might be something wrong with the driveshaft I guess. Hope can get it rectified soon.

Hey Eggie bro, sorry to hear about this sudden mishap. Before anything, when was the last time you replaced your g/box and differential oils. Do an oil change first and see if problem persists. I hope nothing major mate. Hope for the best.

Eggie, did you try pressing the accelerator when the gear did not engage? If pressing accelerator, it engage with a "gong" sound, then it is possible the there is a worn gear plate in the gear box. Anyway, my humble suggestion on the trouble-shooting procedure: 1) same like Bro Deep, do a gear box/axle oil change and see how 2) plug in OBC diagnosis and see the gear box oil temperator (if available), worry about the limp mode due to gear box overheating caused by failed cooling system 3) if all still cannot, I think worst come to worst, might need to open the gear box and do necessary servicing. Some continental car gear box has got this repair kit whereby worn gear plate can be changed individually.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi Morrogan, thanks for the tip.

Well, it was really bad yesterday morning after I drove it for awhile. Admittedly I was rather aggressive then as I almost took her up to 160km/hr along NPE before she started sputtering as soon as I reached Subang. Funny thing was, I really couldn't reverse nor drive head first into my porch which had a slight slope.

Problem persisted even when I resorted to parking on the flat road just outside my house. Weird thing was, the problem seemingly went away and car shifted like normal after I turned the car off and restarted it.

Even this morning when I drove it to the workshop, it seemed fine, but I didn't really push her >100km/hr. And I was even able to drive it up the ramp into the workshop with no problems at all...

Seems like a overheating symptom, should check the mini radiator (heat-exchanger) for the gear box system.

There could be another possibility, electronic malfunction. Sometime can engage sometime don't, doesn't seem to be mechanical problem. If mechanical, sure everytime cannot engage i.e. worn gearing plate.

Fwah, bro morrogan, next time my children need tutor in engineering, I come look for you! POWER man! :adore:

Bro wobbles, when you had experienced countless breakdown along the life long driving journey, you will more or less learn a thing or two....:) Anyway, just offering my so-called logical opinion.
Thanks again for the praise again.

Car is out of commission for about 4 days.

Heard that my car has the following faults - gearbox kaput, need to overhaul, exhaust pipe bocor, catalyst converter needs to be replaced... So on and so forth. Must be caused by the pedal to metal driving style I am so used to doing whilst going past all those potholes, speedbumps and what-nots along the constructions sites in Cyberjaya... :(
