Yup power is relative. 523 is not too bad. 525 & 528 hp is same but 528 got more torque due to higher cc. How much yr RPM when running at 160kmh? Mine is slightly below 3k rpm.

So far I haven't documented my RPM when running at 160km/h, will be going to JB this friday will let you know mine....

my Fuel consumptions so far in mixed driving, OBC regestered 13.1 l/100km = about 0.26 cent/km (for using petronas RON97, price RM2.00/l), will calculated manually when fill up next full tank....will see any different or not.
In BMW manual for 2000 523i, for town use 15l/100km and highway use 7.5l/100km.

mine 523i 99/Nov, UK double vanos. 4 years owned already. cruising almost 160-180km/h everyday. sometimes reach 210km/h & didn't realize it... can go even faster but I feel our highway straight road too short or bend too sharp... afraid ooo.. new Camry/Honda 2.4 overtaking sap2 soi.....

so far I'm happy, no problem & power is more than sufficient for me. I'm not a racer BTW.

Fuel consumption from OBD is getting lower & lower. now 9.9l/100 km, before 10.3l/100km.

went to JB today and return safely, RPM recorded when running at 160km/h is about 3.25k RPM.
Running smoothly up to 180km/h, very stable, quietly, superb handling....enjoy the riding
fuel consumption on highway + JB town, OBC recorded 8.5l/100km...getting better:top

my Fuel consumptions

I did manual calculation for mixed driving is about 20 cents/km (RON97 Petronas, RM1.90/l),
Recently went to KL/Putrajaya, full loaded with passenger and luggage OBC registered 8.7l/100km, also notice the most economical driving style is 120km/h with OBC registered less than 7.5l/100km.....

Bro, I was drooling seeing your good deal here. Hey, I'm looking for a 523i too in Melaka and nearby ,you know of any good car around while you do your sourcing previously? or you know of any good car dealer here? Do inform me.

I'm getting my car from Muar car dealer but the main office was in Melaka, before I decide my purchase I have seen 4 cars (new facelift) 525i in KL base on adv. in motor trader/Ontheroad then I choose the best among the best. So far not yet spent any single cents on maintenance, awaiting next services and planing to send to authorized AB in Melaka.
I've read your thread, on paper Facelift 502i (M54) and 523i (M52) have similar HP, 170 should be adequate for daily ride. You will felt the thrill driving UDM on highway or those on empty road (without traffic jam). Go and see few more E39 before you make your final decission, good luck....
