Got a reply from AB Sg Besi:
'
Dear Mr. XYZ,

We noted on the matters highlighted.

For your information, the two holes were drilled in such a way to hold and sustain the number plate from making 'flapping sound/noise' during driving.

And for the trunk replacement as per mentioned, we need to refer to our management first for such practise.'

I need some help here, what should I reply back? I have told them that my concerns are leakage and rust (mainly). Should I wait for the mgmt to decide?

Forward it to BMW AG and ask them if the reply is logical, CC the dealer and BMW Malaysia.

If they say yes, then they are slapping themselves for such design flaw in all their BMWs. If they say no, then BMW Malaysia got slapped, which in turn, they will slap the respective dealers la..

I have cc'ed BMW AG and BMW Malaysia too but no reply from both parties, yet.

No point cc. They won't answer/reply to avoid dirtied their hands. Direct/forward it to them, sling the mud into their face and request for their feedbacks/comments.

Done.

Attached photos to BMW AG and BMW Malaysia. I have demanded a reply whether it's a norm to drill two hole to secure the rear car plate. Also, I have requested a trunk replacement.

My e39 CKD yr 2002 has similar 2 holes drilled into the truck to secure the rear number plate holder. Almost 10 yrs now and no rust is seen from the 2 holes. Having said that, it should not be a standard practise to drill holes into the truck to secure the rear number holder. A better way to secure the plastic holder is to use industrial grade double sided tape. Usually the making and securing of number plates are out-sourced to 3rd parties but then again the franchise dealer should be held responsibile for any shoddy workmanship.

I did my baby some justice, remove the screw, cleaned with "Dettol" and apply "Handiplast" so no external moist can reach the bare metal. Thinking about it makes my blood boil.. *&^%$#@! :banghead:

Better go and check mine tonight.... hope Quill PJ don't do stupid things like this.... *fingers crossed*

I checked mine too and no extra holes... Also confirmed with the Service Advisor.

most front car from bmw are drilled to accomodate license plate. the back is another art, some got drill extra hole , some don`t, mine do not have extra "hole" at the back but the number plate is moveable as the slot let it freely move up and down .

Hahaha. ..thinking of it, my old seven is with Velcro. ...dun know why...
