Hi again Serjit,

As per Vince's post, the most likely problem would be the ABS sensor cable. I had the same problems before. The cable (any ONE cable) will become brittle after a while and will result in :
1. ABS light coming on
2. a couple of seconds of shuddering/buzzing sound of the brakes
3. momentary feeling of 'spongy' brakes when depressing the pedal.

The drive after that seem normal except for the ABS dash light illuminated. Starting the car the next day, all normal, no ABS lights.

The ABS light may also come on when driving in very heavy rain/ very wet roads and the same symptoms as above appear due to short circuit as the protective sleeve of the cable have come apart. Changing the worn cable cured all my problems.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

You mean prefacelift E38 can just change the headlight to facelift model?

Hi initialM, u can check out from WRC shop. They are specialized in after market headlights. Might be able to find headlights for pre-facelift E38.

Bro what I meant was, can prefacelift E38 convert to facelift look by changing only the headlamp? Was informed by my mech need to change everything from hood, fender & lamp like E46 conversion:eek:

Bro, from what I know you need these;

Upgrading to the face-lift front lights requires a few things i.e. new fenders for both left & right, complete set of head lights including the turn signal lights plus the left, right headlights supporting plate & spray painting the fenders.

I'm also looking to facelift my E38.... :)

I think it updates the look to match with the E46 look rather than the E36. Add angeleyes and also change the rear lights to clear with LEDs...

Already thinking how to spend $$ ..... haiz.... and we haven't even talk about 18" and new coilovers.... :D

Sifus - anyone knows how to manage the following: -

1. The wood trim paneling, e.g. if one of the clips that fixes the wood trim to the dashboard is broken??? I have the side wood trim a little loose due to a broken clip. Any ideas/experience?

2. Also, I am looking for this pair of rims....anyone knows of one in 16"???

3. The rear ac vent in my E38 is loose and has fallen of the console. Anyone knows how to repair this?

As always, all input appreciated!!!

Cheers - S

Ray,

Your car is looking sweet with the new rims and headlights - congrats bro:)

SSman,
you should for 18's bro, you will not regret:) M'parallels, type 32's, AC's all look good on the E38

Serjit,

1. One of my panel is also loose. Just need to get the clips. I have placed my orders and they should have arrived at Albert's. Not costly just a couple of RM.

2. Those rims are BMW Style 61 meant for E38 7.5J 16" offset 20
Check here : http://felgenkatalog.auto-treff.com/

3. Albert has spare for this part.

Don't worry all these are small issues only.

Not too sure about the hood or bumper. From what I check here seems like it's the same part no.

Thanks again bro!

Hi Han Azman,

Thanks for the post and the suggestion. My problem is exactly as you described. I guess I better work the cables/sensors. Can you tell me where you did yours and how much it cost? Many thanks bro!
