Issues with the BMW Performance Power Kit for 320d?

Hello dear Forumers!

I am new to BMW Club Malaysia and just purchased and received my F30 320d M Sport last week. Wonderful ride I must say.
Upon purchase and receiving the vehicle, I also ordered as BMW Diesel Performance Power Kit which was just delivered this morning.

As most of you know, the Power Kit consists of:
-new 600W fan
-larger intercooler
-new ECU
-small parts

However, the dealer called me this morning telling me they are ready to install the Power Kit BUT:
-the F30 320d does not require the new 600W fan and that the original and stock fan is enough. The 600W fan is just for the E90s.
-the Power Kit for the F30 now only requires: larger intercooler, new ECU and small parts

Is this true?
Furthermore, why is BMW still charging me the same price?

I paid RM7,100 (including labor) for the Kit. By right, since I'm not getting the full kit, is it fair they charge me the same price?!

Do please enlighten me...

I think you should insist they install the new fan since this is a package. There's a reason why BMW recommends a change in fan, even more in this sweltering heat in Malaysia.

I think it's no longer a cost issue. I mean you should not even request for a reduction in package price but rather insist they install the fan.

Hi Salloom,

I installed the PPK as well sometime last year for my car. Any yes, it does not come with the fan. My SA advised me prior to making the purchase as well and thier brochure also does not advertise a fan for the F30. Only the previous models. Pls see below.

After installing the PPK, is your diesel consumption higher now? I heard it drinks alot

Nope. Not really. Still get very good FC. Actually about the same as before.

The PPK is a good kit to get, the upgraded intercooler gives you that additional power together with the retuned ECU. I guess without the fan, in all honesty, the 320d engines don't run that hot. Even after 6 hot laps at Sepang, my car engine oil temp reads only 104 degrees.

The F30 kit is not advertised with the fan. You must have seen the kit for E90.

I have the power kit for E90 320d and absolutely no regrets, the new ECU with revised maps make power delivery so much linear. Really enjoying the drive!

Alan.. where did u get the PPK? Several of the F30ers who installed the PPK got a new ECU. Their SA returned the old ECU to them.

My PPK came with intercooler & new ECU but w/o the fan. Old intercooler & old ECU were returned to me.

I must say the power delivery is smoother ... higher torque very obvious esp. for acceleration at higher speed, i.e. from 80km/h to 160km/h.

Definitely worth the money & hassle free (warranty).

Mind telling me after installation of PPK, what is your return mileage for a full tank?

Currently I get on average about 750km per tank for city driving and about 980km for highway driving.

FC and range can get better than that...I have done 5.8L/100km before. KL to SG return trip (including 5 days driving in SG) used only 3/4 tank. There was no need to fill up.

Yeah. Going KL - SG - KL as well as Penang - KL and back no need to fill tank. Even can drive another whole week in KL before tank is empty.

I'm still on my first tank ever on the car and clocked 820kms. Low fuel indicator has still not alerted me! I have at least another 100kms to go.

FC is absolutely stoncking!

My average is 750 - 800 as well.. mostly city driving..
Just came back from SG last weekend..

KL - SG - 1 quarter tank only..

My car is stock
