My buddy and I were chilling at the Mid Valley Shopping Complex, at Starbucks on Tuesday evening (6th April) We were siting at the back of the Valet counter, viewing the babes. When I got back from the rest room my buddy related what I missed. One guy stopped his BMW , White e90, got down and came over the Valet to get them to park his car, and as he was at the counter, another guy, jumped into his car and drove off, with the owner giving chase on foot and yelling! He lost it and feel to the tarmac and his car sped off!!!What a way to loose your car!! Never .. never ever leave your car unattended guys, not for one second!! Our country is not safe at all nowadays.

OMG ... so easy as 123 ...

no issurance coverage larrr like this ...unless make up a story ...

probably not the 1st incident.... Ppl sometime just took it for granted...

never never take anything for granted...

for instance, cuz of a really hot day, and one wants to leave the A/C running while he does a quick sprint to the mamak shop to buy a packet of ciggy...leaving his car unattended despite double parking right in front of the mamak itself...anything can happen in that split second.

He shouldn't even have been using a valet anyway. :D

if Mid Valley, I can understand... it's a nighmare going round looking for parking.... however, he should have gotten the valet boys to attend to him instead of him leaving the car to walk to the counter...

Yeah man. It was like taking a candy from a baby.

So easy, door open, engine running, Air condition on, key in the ignition.... and its a BMW... LOL!!!

Malaysia has ALREADY turned into a country of snatch thieves, car jackers, crooks & con-men!!

2 years ago I sold my Alfa to an older gentlemen who ran a BMW e34 as his everday car.... one fine day he went to buy his favorite "Goreng Pisang" and when he got into his car a car jacker was in the back seat pointing something at him & asking him to get out!!

>>> it REALLY sad. Even sadder is that it been going on for years & only now that the dumb A** politicians admit that crime is a national problem...

my solution?!! simple but effective.

announce in the newspaper that the police WILL catch 10 snatch thieves, car jackers etc a day then punish these crooks SO bad that others will not want to try. eg punish by public whipping / caning, indefinitely imprisonment, hard labour etc etc..

this is that Sing and Calif did and now that have some of the lowest crime rates in the world. .. Of course to do this we need a police force that cares about performing their job vs collect teh monies!! sighhh

Quite scary sia. Should have switched off the engine and directly give the keys to the valet. That's what I normally do if I have to use the valet service.

even my old e30, i dont ever let the engine is on or leave the key inside even for just 3 second.

:top: Prevention is better than cure ....our attitudes sometimes are the attributes to our own downfall ...:smokin:

:cool:NEVER LEAVE YOUR CAR UNATTENDED, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING ....(EVEN FOR A FEW BLINKS, coz thats what it takes for anyone to take anything, just a blink)

I never let valets touch my car (I have seen how some of them park cars including pricey Cayennes and SLKs...scary), mostly because I don't think they take good care of the car. But if I do need to run out of the car for a moment (even if its just to buy some goreng pisang at a roadside stall), I always switch the engine off, and lock the car. Even if I have someone waiting in the car, the engine will not be running and the doors will be locked.

When dropping off friends and luggage at hotels or wherever, if I need to leave the driver's seat to help with luggage, I always switch the ignition off and pocket the key before going out to help.

It's too unsafe these days to do anything less.

Let's invest in an E90 and repeat the same but this time, we install remote control explosive to blow them into pieces.. or no wait... install tracking device to unroot the entire organisation to hopefully recover the white E90 and others..

Defensive vs Offensive..

Sometimes we feel its OK to leave our car unattended bcoz its still within out eyesight. Not knowing that anybody can just jump inside and drive off ... and our legs are not as fast as our eyesight.
