Bros quick question, is it common for a 320d to have some sort of sour-like smell coming from the aircond?

Chill mate. 47k km is considered a virgin still. Prolly only changed diesel filter once under BSRI.

Visual inspection by an experienced mechanic of your belts is important. Alternatively, can change belts n pulleys as a preventive measure....doesn't cost much I believe. Maybe 200 to 300 ringgit all in.

Is changing the pulley belt is sufficient? Do i need to change the pulley also? The main pulley would cost around rm1200 each and pulley belt is only rm200+

320d 2011 is it an e90 model? Tell her rm130-140k can buy an F30 2012 model already :D but probably the colour combo and low mileage justifies her price

Change belts and tensioner since not so expensive. Ask mechanic to inspect main crank pulley to see its condition before buying parts to change. My car the main crank pulley tore and fell with a loud thud to the engine bay floor. Luckily only 3 minutes away from house. Could still drive and made it home but the steering became heavy like driving a bulldozer. Next day Jack my mechanic came to my house. Tow trucked to his workshop. That month lots of drama my 320d....used tow truck 3 times!Lucky got Allianz Road Warrior Plus cover! No limit to number of times can call tow truck and cover I think further distance than normal Road Warrior policy.

Yes....it is true. They are rationalising their products line up. With the announcement of the EEV status of the petrol cars, the 320d and also likey the 520d will be discontinued once current stocks run out.The diesels became much more expensive than their petrol counterparts after the EEV price reductions. Also I heard, diesel cars sales number were apparently very low to begin with.
I see, looks like its a sale related issue. I thought it was more so related tonthe b10 implementation. Bmw has already insisted strongly against this.

Hey.. I'm new here. Just intro myself at newbies section. I'm about to have a pre-owned 2010 e90 320d. I paid the booking. Later when i met my mechanic n talk about my upcoming car, he's a bit shocked because i dared to buy diesel bmw. He said if the engine give problems, to change it, a new diesel engine will cost about rm20k to rm30k.. Is it right? Or is it almost imposible a bimmer to have problem until you need to change the engine?
