Guys, I would love to join as well but let me powerkit the car first.:top:

Have you already gone up Ulu Yam without the powerkit? If not, should go up stock and then one more time with the powerkit. I think then you can really appreciate it :)

That's my plan anyway, drive it up stock, then add the powerkit and the brace bar at the front see whats the difference. Later change to N-RFT tyres and move on to performance tyres.

Mavik - looks like you're a drive guru! Do please include us in your next expedition :)
Ulu Yum Yum sounds great, can go whack durian at Raub on the way
No la, no drive guru here. Just gotten into this driving thing and I have only used the Ulu Yam route around 6 times, 1 at night. The night run was scary!

wow you certainly are a veteran then! i've been down that route only twice, both times in the morning. real nice drive, and if we time it right, can start with breakfast at the famous fish curry in Raub, and have lunch in Ulu Yam old town.
i've recently DTUK-ed my beast, and would love to go climb the hills again. Let's go!

Hi Maniac - I'm getting an X3 20d and interested to know how's the DTUK effect on your diesel? Where did you buy from?

bro, DTUK is imported from the UK. It's a lot of fun - there are 4 maps, and 7 boost settings, and you can tweak at leisure to find the one that suits your driving style the best. In terms of hardware, it has dual input channels to the commonrail pressure and boost sensors, which is the reason that it is so flexible in setting options.
So what's the effect on the car? The new N47 diesel engine in M'sia, which have benefited from the introduction of Euro2M in 2009, are found in either the 177hp/350Nm or 184hp/380Nm variants. From the website, 177hp/350Nm can be tuned to 220hp/450Nm and 184hp/380Nm to 224hp/475Nm :4:
More power on tap, and so many maps to suit your needs - yee haa!
I'm currently on a low rev/high torque setting for daily driving, which i find eliminates turbo lag, and makes the drive super smooth, esp zooming out of the corners. Apparently if you keep your driving style the same, you can also benefit from fuel savings. So far, not for me yet...enjoying the extra oomph too much. hehe.

You guys need to dyno and get the real numbers. Quoting websites ain't fair :top:

hehe, true. stay tuned for more updates then, i'll be planning a dyno soon..
only problem is, with 29 dyno combinations, dunno how to fit all of them into a session :)

Boss, I suggest just do 2 settings enough la:
1) Max out for every parameter - to see the max performance gain;
2) your usual setting - to see what you are now happy on (for figures).

On average a dyno session with 3 runs is around RM100. I think with the number of attempts you are going for, you can definitely qualify for a group discount LOL!

Btw, from my pass experiences with either tuning boxes and remaps, it takes the car to learn the figures. During my last dyno session, a guy just installed a piggyback and did a dyno run which resulted in very near stock figures. After driving a week, he did the dyno again and this time the figures were better.

thanks morrogan and mavik for the good insights. i'm keen to see the difference between the 4 maps, against the stock curves. sounds like a 2hr show to me.
...for now, butt dyno will have to do.
