Actually here's a more valid comparison, the F30 320i vs. the F30 320d

320i BMW N20 turbo petrol with 184 PS and 270 Nm@1250-4500rpm. 0-100km/h in 7.6 seconds, top speed of 235 km/h
320d BMW N47 turbodiesel with 184 PS and 380 Nm@1750-2750rpm. Same 0-100 and top speed.

So most likely same price, similar performance. Would people still buy the diesel?

I think the 320d sales are gonna be hit.......when the 320i comes out.

The 328i would be a very interesting proposition (if they don't price it like MR400K!).... till the bigger diesel twinturbos come in when our diesel quality is cleaner.

My guess is 320i and 320d will be priced around RM280k (about 20k more than current versions) and the 328i will approach RM330k (ie. slight premium over current 325i and Audi A4 2.0T).
The 328i should be interesting I agree.

I hope government can upgrade the diesel so they can bring the higher spec diesel F30. Hopefully, the better spec on can do 0-100 in less than 6 sec. Then i will surely give 328i a miss.

they already delay it maa.gave the petrol companies time until 2014 to come out with the better diesel.
haih.. ( wont be seeing 6 cylinder,twin turbo diesel anytime soon )

thanks all for a fun diesel drive this morning. altogether we had 7 oil burners, 6 320d's and 1 big brother 520d, zooming through the ulu yam region today. here are some pics to share.

wet start to the morning along karak highway. visibility was pretty limited. kong was a great lead car all the way to our breakfast, helping us to navigate our way through the wet highways and by ways.

pitstop #1. here's the diesel gang with the beasts. they look like quite a fun bunch, no?

they are even more fun after having something to eat :4: we had a few little oil burners who joined in as well!

...fueling up with some fire in the belly before the next leg.

performance edition stripes & kits. check out mat6689's breytons too.

pitstop #2, along the foothills of Frasers, with nice cool weather. it was a slippery ride up the hill, everyone had their share of slides and DSC flashes. yowza. the torque grunt of the diesels really shine uphill and powering up after bends.

pitstop #3, at the ulu yam reservoir, after enjoying the curves & twisties of the mountain range. beautiful scenery, and wonderful roads.

3 of our crew departed the convoy to zoom off to other engagements, and the 4 of us left went for...makan (again)

final pitstop was at the famous ulu yam loh mee. we passed these while walking to the shop. first, a bunch of hunting dogs, guarding their fresh prey from the jungles...a wild boar, which was in the truck beside them. didn't wanna post the pic. after kena ban

..and then we passed this beast. i want one.

Many thanks to bro Maniac for putting this fun drive together, despite getting two traffic tickets on the same day.
Too bad I have to break from the group earlier. Missed the durian session. I have been turning my head to every stall I zoom pass on our way...haha
Great group we have today and good job to the kids who came really close to surviving the drive up the hill after such a heavy breakfast.
