Quote "Euro 4 diesel is not requested by the automobile industry" & "Many companies like Volks*wagen and Mercedes Benz are not bringing in diesel vehicles to the country".
sigh, how lame can you get.

this quote on electric vehicles "fuelling up" also made me laugh: “It should allow electric vehicle owners to change their battery instead of charging it and the time it takes for them to do it should not be longer than filling up one’s tank”

okay then we can live with some black soot to "smoke" cars behind us for now!

Sigh! our country is being run by a bunch of morons.....
I always thought that to become a minister in a specific area, one should be the subject matter expert on the area concern.... I was WRONG!

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Euro 4 diesel is NOT REQUESTED by the automobile industry
KPI sure full marks if he is a court jester.... damn farney!

here I am teaching my son to be kind to mother earth, but our minister said a more environmental friendly fuel is not requested by the industry!
at least do some basic research first lar before open big mouth..... shows the level of knowledge the so called transport minister has....

on a separate note, wanted to check with you owners.....
i just had my 1st full tank guzzled...
only managed slightly over 600kms for 54ltrs (ard 8.9l/100km)...
95% city, with 50% stop-go traffic.... normal kah?
saw bro namidub fuelly shows a wonderful 7.3l only......

7.3 is the average bro.yes i think its ok to get over 600kms for city driving.i had sometimes even worse.
many factors to consider : outside temp, tire inflation,start-stop,idling and most importantly your RHL.
dont worry too much about your FC.enjoy the ride!

It's no wonder that our politicians are labelled as incompetent and stupid in wikileaks. :(

No worries bro! My worst so far is 9.4l/100km, 600km on 56litres, 100% city driving.
Best so far around 6.8l/km
Have fun!!

They aren't dumb... they just don't want to tell the public the real reason behind this delay...
They know the process/refining cost of Euro 4 is higher and the public is not receptive to increases at the pumps (especially near election) which means more subsidies that they can't afford to dole out.
They also know that if they could've pushed for Euro 4's higher cost at the pumps AFTER the election, they would not want you to know this so they mention "2 years"... not "6 months"...
They used VW or Merc as scapegoats because they know these businesses would not publicly correct them for fear of losing APs, etc... aaahhhh, vested interests!
They don't care that the pedestrians and road users will be breathing in harmful chemicals (proven to shorten your life hence Europe is a strong proponent of clean diesel) from the current low quality diesel because there is nothing in it for them if they did care... also the general public is very ignorant of danger of these harmful emissions... and lets not get me started about the environment!
Perhaps realistically, you and I can only hope for it when Proton comes out with a diesel engine car... very unlikely, no?
I think THEY are very smart and have taken into consideration all issues (that concern them, not us)... if you think they are dumb, they have won the game...

whatever it is bro bullant, we have to bear the blunt and pay the price of their "effectiveness"...
I do think they are dumb still, but if they think they have won the game, wait till the next GE, lets see who has the last laugh... MUAHAHAHA!

Agree with you totally... the next GE it is... I am just worried what other tricks they will pull...

Going for the Shah Alam gathering this Satuday?...it'll be interesting-full of tricks.

The politicians are dumb because they could have easily done the following and gained quite a bit of brownie points:

- make Euro 4 fuel as an option and let the oil companies take the initiative whether they want to offer it or not.
- leave the subsidized Euro 2 in place.
- set only a max ceiling for Euro 4 diesel, not a fixed price. Let the price float similar to RON97 and let the oil companies compete if they want to offer lower fuel prices. The consumer would get some advantage here.
- have a token discount for Euro 4 diesel cars with engine capacities less than 1.6l for example. The cost of this can easily be recovered by the less/no subsidy on the Euro 4 fuels.
- Proton would be forced/encouraged to have diesel cars as well, they can easily work with a European carmaker to get the engine like what they've done before. This will make their cars more attractive in the Australia/UK as well.
- start harping that these politicians are the ones improving the air quality and moving towards better standards due to all of the above.

I don't see how any of the above will affect them adversely in the next GE since the bulk of the initiative is on the private companies and the government is just setting the lead while keeping the cheap Euro 2 diesel around. But again I don't think the typical govt minister thinks this far ahead.

Anyway this is a little bit off topic but I'd still welcome comments.

My friend a proud owner of 320d went to fill up his car yesterday. The owner of the pump told him that all klang valley petrol station now comes with bio-diesel (5% palm oil). In nov all stations in selangor will follow have it too. He noticed that in this month his mileage drop not sure if its related to bio-diesel. He called ingress and was informed that BMW Malaysia claims that the BMW diesel engine is compatible with bio-diesel.

1) Can anyone confirm that all diesel in now bio-diesel? I do not recall anything in the news about this..
2) Any side effect by using bio-diesel in the long run?

1. Yes, most of the carry bio-diesel now. So far only notice Shell & Caltex carrying them. Caltex already have bio-diesel earlier this year in Melaka. This is what i've read from the news a few weeks back then.

2. Bio-diesel has poorer cleaning power compared to normal diesel. You'll notice performance drops & poorer fuel consumption. But that should not be that obvious. err, let's say 3~6%?
The current Euro 2 is already bad, why still bother going for B5 since they are selling at the same price (Or it isn't?) unless you're really going green lah. Diesel rocks

On the contrary, I felt an improvement in pick-up on my first tank of Bio-Diesel. Fueled up at Caltex along Jalan Imbi. However, as I am still on my first tank, it is still early to notice any major effects on my 320d. Any D owners running on B5 for longer periods can comment on FC and torque? Thanks
