Eu Jax,

I have the same feeling ... RM1K for fuel pump is way too expensive. But I think now its too late for you I guess? The car is already at the workshop. They have already open up and do some troubleshooting with the fuel pump. Just a matter of fixing a new one for you. Unless you have any idea and pull a quick one ... heheheee.

hi zamrulez...where did you replace ur fuel pump? Less than 1k sounds like a lot of difference from what i was quoted, but my car is in an authorise BMW workshop so probably bit more. If urs are done in AB as well i would check with them on the prices again.

190e is a nice car :)

Regards

If you send back to AB, i'm not surprised with the price quote.. Labour charge alone would be much higher... Cost of parts would oso be higher...

Thanks guys for sharing ur experience. Where do you guys fix your car by the way? Perhaps should opt for non AB next time...

Hi guys,

The car is finally fixed. Have the fuel pump changed. Cost about RM 1300 inclusive of labour and as usual, a 2 year warranty frm AB. Car is smooth as usual again. One thing i forget to ask the mech, where is the fuel pump located? Is it underneath the rear passenge seat like the fuel hose? Or its in front at the pedals side?

Thanks all who had replied and given ur thoughts.

There is an existing thread. Please take some time to look around. It may save you more money and less heartache in future.

The fuel sender and the fuel pump is under the rear driver side seat. You need to remove the seat to see it.

did AB just changed the pump or the complete fuel sender, float and pump assembly?

If AB or other mechanic, they will change the full set. You cannot buy the fuel pump separately.

The full set come with pump and fuel sender. see pic below

Thank you Jarance, its exactly like what u said. Its the whole thing and i took home the old fuel pump. It looks brand new and i was scratching my head when i saw it...wondering which part went wrong :p Thanks for the photos, it sure helps me to visualise what the mech had done. Cheers Jarance.

It not my photo. It was actually Russie shot but the hands belong to me..

Normally, AB wont allow you to see what they doing to your car but most of the BMW specialist shop do allow you to look-see what the mechanic are doing. That way you can pick up a few points about your car.

But I think majority people just dump their car in the workshop and expect the fault to be found and repair it. It just like a doctor seeing a patient. he have to ask you how wrong with you in order to prescribe the correct medicine. The same goes with your car. You drive it everyday. You are the only one who know what wrong. The information will help to diagnose the actual problem.

Just imagine you go into the workshop and tell the mechanic that there is a noise under the car . Please solve it.:stupid:

Totally agree with you Jarance...unfortunately not everyone have the time to kill in the workshop. And like u said, in AB or any authorised workshop they do not allow us to be in the work place. But when i send my e30 to M1, i'll be there all the time ;) Its interesting to see whats the problem.
