The following have been changed:1. Fuel pump2. Spark plugs and coils3. O2 sensor4. Most of the related sensorsTried to swap the gearbox, the problem remain the same. Computer checked, no fault. Now really got headache! :banghead:Does anyone have this problem before? anyone can advise?Thank you

Thank you

How do you know it's in 4th?

Note that the ZF5HP that E39's are fitted with always starts at 2nd gear unless you floor the accelerator to the floor when starting off.

So if you're counting the gears by "feeling" the gearshifts, you'll always think the car is in 4th when it's actually already in 5th.

Bro,

I think we should know our car well. It is 4th gear as i said earlier when normal cruising, it has no problem, but when push to the floor, from 5th gear it change to 4th gear but never change back to 5th gear. The car getting slower. And, fuel consumption damn high! never face this before.

I have read somewhere about pulse generator@sensor at the flywheel..anyone knows? tried to google it but was in vain..

If this was any other car I'd think it was a fault with the kickdown switch that triggers downshifts when the accelerator is floored.

I have swapped the kickdown switch, still having the same problem. What else could it be?

HERAN BIN AJAIB!!!

ZF gearbox really create lots of problem. did you bring your car to any BMW gearbox specialist to check it out?

Just curious, how about switching to M, are you able to go from 4th to 5th when cruising? Will it downshift itself (at M) when you slow down?

Go Teak5 TT tonight, Eggie86 giving FOC checking hehehehehehe....:vroam:

Bro take it to Yong. It could be your engine speed sensor and pulse generator in your gearbox. Kaput. no 6 and no 8 in the pics

Yo Mike,
I have swapped the gearbox as well but the same problem still exist. I dont think this is gearbox problem or anything related to gearbox... The best part, the workshop in Segambut has sent to another specialist in Kota Damansara (sorry I didn't get the workshop's name), they still unable to trace the problem. Very funny!!!

Seems that the problem is resolved. I have tested the car today, no more problem. The workshop claimed that it was the vanos issue, but I doubt as the vanos seal and kits just being replaced together with group buy recently.

So what's wrong with your car? Did the workshop solved your car problem or the problem just disappeared?

They claimed the vanus tuning was not right. But, I have replaced the kits which bought together with you few months back, there was no problem and was working fine before. In fact, it was checked again last 2 weeks, it was in order. Since my workshop sent it to Segambut, i could not verify this. For me, this looks funny! I was told by the mechanic that sometimes the workshop try to hide the discovery, cari makan maaa!!!! Damn!!!
