Hi sifus, I've a newbie question. Just got my E60 3 months ago. It has clocked about 8,000 kms. According to the On Board Computer, my car is due for service in about 1,000 kms thus the first service is due at 9,000 km. I then called the Service Center at Segambut to book my appointment. Instead I was told that the first service should be 15,000 kms or 1 year whichever comes first. Now, I'm confused. What should I do? Each time I start my car, it says service is due. But the Service Center insist that the first service is not due yet. Pretty soon, when I'm over the 9,000 km mark, it'll probably flash a bigger warning or may not even start. What are your opinions on this matter. Please help.

I'm sure u can sent the car for service, after all it's your car. If you want to service the car at 3k/5k interval, it's your money. What the heck right.
However, for a piece of mind, refer to the manual book, it should tell you the service interval right, not sure about E60 service interval, can ask the others.
Regardless of the service indicator, I always service mine at 7k.

The manual book actually ask us to refer to the on board computer which means that my car should be serviced at 9,000 kms.

Anyone else can shed some light on this matter? How about other new owners of E60? At which interval, did you send your car for first service?

I suggest that you book an appointment anyways since the OBC is telling you to send in the car for servicing. BTW the actual items to be services may not be the engine oil/filter. It could be other things which your OBC will tell you.

You can always opt for other authorized service center...

totally agree, just service your car every 8-10K with fully synthetic n your car will love u, like yoke mention, its your money, u can even service at 5k if u want, u r giving them money and why dont they just service it (i think most likely its CNY and they have too many cars and cannot slot in the time for u)

The SA is an idiot, the new gen BMWs have condition based service intervals. If you get the oil change light/service required (in the E90s, the oil change counter starts counting negatively), then its time for the first scheduled oil change, plain and simple. It doesn't matter if the car has 9,000km or 18,000km, when the car wants it, it should get it.

BUT I must ask you if the light isn't a) Low oil light b) check engine light (petrol cap loose being the usual culprit). Either way, bring the car in and demand attention. You paid too much money to be second guessing.

Thanks for your replies guys. Most of you are asking me to 'just send in the car' regardless. In my case, in doing so will it void the free 60,000 kms service agreement?

Re read my post on condition based service.

If the car is calling for an oil change, NOT going will void your New Car Warranty.

Got my E60 last week. Was informed by my AB sales person to send it in for the 1st service at 10k. Subsequent service should be at approximately every 25k (apart from the 1st service, other services to be done after service indicator lights up).

The AB CA is just giving you a guideline. All servicing should be done, as the car requires it. Different driving styles/conditions means different mileage. Its not fixed at 10k km, some people will experience more or less than that. Take anything AB's CA tells you with a grain of salt. Most CAs knows zilch.

BMW NA has an annual guideline but BMW AG sticks to the CBS.

Btw its not a bad idea to do some unscheduled oil changes interim (in between estimated scheduled maintenance stops), especially the first break-in oil.

Ok, I've made up my mind to send my car in after CNY regardless of what those buggers at the Service Center say.

Thanks to all who have commented in this thread. :)

Also wishing you all a Healthy, Happy and Prosperous CNY!!!:)
