You have to specifically ask the SA NOT to reset the service counter if you're paying for it yourself.

What's the countdown to service for your car now?
Yes told the SA not to reset it was even on the form. I must be driving my car way toooo slow

ACS, Based on the manual, the spec stated the engine break in period is 2,000km. The RPM shall not exceed 4500.

Callum,

Got the car 1 week... and notice the center console knocking sound.... took it back to AB ... but cant identify noise due to different road condition..

Gunso, I read from other websites, the console knocking sound could be the wire inside the console is knocking the dashboard or some wall. Not sure does this helps ?

i bought my F30 320i on 10/2012. Now after 1.5 years and clocked way more then 30,000km, still no indicator say it need to be serviced. Is this normal? The car is being used daily and travel outstation often.

I think this BSRI thing really suck big time.

Skycon, what does the dashboard display indicated the mileage the moment you switch on the car ? Please remember that's the only moment it shows the balance of mileage, once the car is started, this reading will disappear and wait for the next ignition.

For others, I have one quick question, has anymore face any penalty for late sending of your car to service center ? How late is late and what is the overdue mileage ? Your experience sharing is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Skycon, AFAIK the early batches of cars in 2012 had their system fixed at 30k for service which is BS. I've read a few owners complain about it but no follow up was done nor was it raised to the BMW management which I think they should have. Cars that came out later on in 2013 like mine for an example had its system clocked to ask for service every 12-15k is more sensible.

Don't know about others but I did voiced my dissatisfaction to the Quill mgmt, but they just don't give a damn as I am just a tiny small fly. Their answer were that is how BMWM policy it, and if dealer service it under BSRI before the indicator say so, BMWM is not going to honour it so the dealer won't be able to claim back the service dollars from them. Anyway after a few arguments, I gave up and folk out my own money to service the car on 15,000km (without resetting the meter so I can know when the actual BSRI service is due).

Well, for me Quill has just lost another customer. BMW is a great car, but the way BMWM and their dealers run the biz and programme here suck big time.

Bro I don't think it's just quill but every other dealer will do the same as it's just SOP for them. Normally customers will skip the dealer and deal directly with BMW management. You can try calling BMW Voice to lodge your complaint.

Go to iDrive and check vehicle status under oil service and see if the indicator is orange. If it's orange then you may send your car in for BSRI service liao. No need to wait till you see the warning lights comes on at the meter. From my experience 30-32k should be due for service liao.

guys,

I'm about to do my interval service already. the 1st is 15k... so now I'm clocking 7k and wanted to do it outside myself... ( just an oil and filter change ).
Which workshop is recommended? I would also want to do alignment as well.

Pls advice

Gunso, will lt violates the BSRI policy and becomes void ?

FYI, SC charge me RM800 just for replacing motor oil and filter if not under the BSRI scheme.

Callum,

Wearnes charged me about RM 520 for oil plus oil filter. That was last December when they had some promotion of some sorts.

What if we get outside shop to replace the motor oil and filter, will this violates the BSRI policy ? And, does the computer systems is able to detect this ? Anyone has done this before without letting them know or they have no way to detect it ?

I have actually asked the SC about this..
Basically if you use original BMW filter and don't reset the computer.... ( just basic filter change, oil drain and change ) its ok.
Ofcourse... that doesn't mean they condone la... (hush hush)

So, which place to do basic oil and filter change is recommended?
