Er after reading through all these Vanos replacement and ECU Remapping by Bernard, my hand itchy again....

My ride is e60, 520i.... i just took over it from a relative and from what i remember, the drive is not as powerful as the first few times i drove his car.... so i wanna try the Vanos first.... then the ECU Remapping.....

However, the Vanos Beisan order is close... just wondering if there is going to be a 4th group order or maybe even someone wana let go his Vanos :)

So drop me a line thanks !

After try that, will reconsider the ECU remappting.....

Replace the vanos seal will not increase the power.

Herbert is planning the 4th batch group buy for double vanos, check it out.

There won't be a 4th batch group buy. Since the 3rd group buy will be the FINAL BUY, so instead of limiting it to 13 sets (double vanos), I am extending the quantity for another 13 more sets totalling 26 sets.

Jackcpc,

I will pm you for your double vanos seal.

30k Miles not kmh

Had my M52B28 single vanos seals replaced with Beisan's on 4th June 2010. Till today covered around 400kms already. The improvements could be felt on a day by day basis.

My observations are

1. Engine is very responsive now from GO
2. Engine & Gear changes feels much smooter
3. Hard driving. Activating the kick down, dropping a gear is fast and engine to trottle response is fast (very little lag) and the RPM sweeps to redline very rapidly.

Oh man! this is fun even on a big car with the smallest engine capacity. E38 728i

Thanks Herbert for introducing the Beisan seals and organising the group buy.

...thats how I felt to....but the most curious part was the need to break in the seals...but there was really difference after the break in period.... Thnxxx Herbert for the effort.

I concur with what Vincent had said.
I've touch about 600km after the seal replacement and there is a lot of different as compare to previously. The car respond much better now and it felt very light at low rpm.
At 3rd gear it climbs from 1.5k rpm to redline effortless (mine is a 5 speed auto gearbox).... It worth all the money spend.

I still do believe beisan seals helps slightly in the performance of the car...

Thanks herbert for the great effort....

Hi bros XXX, Vincent & Alipon,

It is nice to hear your positive feedback on Beisan vanos seals.

With regards to XXX on the need to break in the seals, this is what I obtained from Beisan and I quote:-

Seals break-in

When new, Teflon seals will have a rough milled surface. After a period of use, the contact surface will be polished and have lowered contact friction. Thus at initial installation Teflon seals will not perform well, but their performance will increase progressively in a short period. Optimum performance can be expected after ~500 miles (800 kilometers) of city driving.

So where will the extra Teflon from the polished surface go :smokin:

Good question.... would you like to contact Beisan and share with us the answer.

Beisan Support

A vanos forum http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/vanos/ has been setup on Bimmer Board and is referenced on the website forum page. The vanos forum should be considered the primary media for support. It will contain questions/answers, discussion, feedback, technical information, FAQ, etc.

Or you can contact rajaie@beisansystems.com (CEO of Beisan Systems)

The "extra" teflon particles is probably too small to cause any significant damage to the engine. It'll probably be trapped by the oil filter as it gets circulated in the engine.

That's just my guess. Maybe an email to Beisan will clear the doubt.

Just had my seals replaced on Saturday. Would have been a quick job if it wasn't because of the constant customers coming in. We had 4 sets of seals to replace so my mech sourced a 2nd hand vanos and replaced that seal before hand. Just swapped the unit in, cleaned up the sealant on the valve seal before reapplying and it's a go.

Not sure if it's the placebo effect but I noticed the power delivery in the lower rpm ranges were much smoother and more readily available at hand. I also noticed my flat spot I get between 1.5k to 2k rpm in 2nd gear is no longer present. It's not a recurring issue but intermittently I do get that whenever I shift from 1st to 2nd so I can't be 100% sure it's a vanos or ECU issue due to the mods I have on the car.

I still have around 600km to go before fully running in the seals so I'll report back again once the run in process is completed.

cheers.

Bro

where do u replace the vanos seals, others then replace the seals what jobs else done by your mechanic ?

Thank you and appreciate.

I did mine at Albert Fang (WP Auto 012-2017792)

Since Albert was working at the valve cover area, we replace the following items at the same time

1. Valve cover gasket set
2. Vanos Timing chain
3. Vanos chain tensioner
4. Vanos oil supply pipe

Also, carry out engine service with Castrol Fully synthetic plus ATF & Filter change.

Engine is now super quiet. You practically don't realise the engine is running apart from sound of the Aux Fan.

Cost, don't know yet as Albert has not prepare the bill.

bro...On beisan's packaging, wasnt it written that only 200 miles or 320kms is more than adequate for it be "RUN"ed in....correct me if i m wrong...anyway, i have just did mine on thurs...now trying to rack up the miles before i WOT....can feel slight improvement during first 1-3k++ rpm...once vanos open...helluva difference...but then again, only tried once as i kena tiong by a white e46...left him for dead...:smokin:

Aiya I tot I read somewhere it's 800kms! Means I've got something like another 100km or so. Maybe less.

Anyway this few days I've been cruising around 80-90km/h trying to keep my rpm way below 3k. Can really feel the difference man. Seems to be working as intended :).

wah....i still got another 200kms to go...damn...must purposely drive to melaka and back... :p hahha
