MAF, air filter....................

Cleaned the MAF before i got the seals replaced. I tried running w/o air filter for a short sprint to (exclude the possibility of air filter), the hesitation was still there.

no error code on firing mechanisms. Replaced cylinder 2 ignition coil and 6 spark plugs about 2 months ago only.

u cleaned the ontact point of the MAF?
makes a difference too.

yeap, i cleaned that too. I also cleaned every other electrical contact point in the engine bay. :D

After changing the Seals there was an immediate difference. Better torque, the FC from 21.9 MPG went up to 29.8MPG. After the 320km running in even better. The pick up is instant. I also tried on steptronic mode (manual) from 1st - 3rd gear. I feel the pull when i take off from stand still absolutely no lag.

I did mine at WP Auto. It took half a day to do the job as they waited for the engine to cool down before starting the Job which makes more sense than doing it on arrival cause the radiotor will be half emptied to remove the Fan shroud and no risk of damaging the treads on the cylinder head plus they have to lock the drivetrain before removal of the Vanos

Overall I can now feel the real deal of a 530 engine. Kudos Herbert

Hi Herbert,
Changed the Vanos Seal on my M50TUB25 last saturday along with some other things on my ride. Can feel the difference especially the low-torque which was missing earlier. After re-aligning the cam, my engine runs smoother. FC also improve, a-bit, not too significant. To date, has clock in 100km and has another 220km to run-in the seal and feel that the response is getting better.
Along with the seal replacement, i also took the opportunity to clean and align my CAMS, ICV, change the ICV breather Valve and hose, waterpump as well as the aircond and fan belt + oil change and oil filter. Total set-back $$$ - RM800 for all the works and parts stated.
My mech also ask, when is the next group purchase for the seal as he intends to order some.
Thanks.

I send it to my regular workshop - Ahmad @ Kempas, Johor Bahru. I knew his name but don't know what's his workshop called. He's ex-AutoBavaria Workshop Sifu with plenty of experience especially for older models like mine. One man show and only take cash. Honest and a good chap.

Remember you talking about this when we met in Kluang, Haqim. Looks like your 16-year old is getting more and more "youthful" with all the TLC you're giving her. Meet up next round you're back in Gombak

Thanks Maniac. "Youthful" eh? One way of putting it.. but still, i'm envious of your much younger, sexy looking Bavarian Mistress..:top:

Will catch up soon. Should be back in Gombak during Annual Dinner Weekend!

Does he has the tools for vanos setting? Now your car can reach 200kmh easily:smokin:

Bro, I think he does. Didn't wait for him as the works took a while but he did mention about using special tools for the job. My old seal brittles upon removal.

Cannot run the car like mad lar bro. Did a through check on my ride to find the source of leak that i was telling you about and confirm that it is not coming from the flywheel oil seal that I changed at Sanjeev's. Oil is leaking from my oil sump gasket which I did together with the flywheel oil seal. Nothing major tho but geram jugaklah seeing oil spot on my porch.

Ahmad asked for me to send it back to Sanjeev but I reckon I'll ask Ahmad to do the job on my next service visit. I'm just too lazy to drive up to Permas plus the warranty period lapsed 3 months ago. Either way, I'm still screwed!

just got my car bck from w/shop,had to change head gasket alos change the vanos seals, car feels better and lighter,my old seals were hard allready.thanks to herbert.

I did my vanos replacement last monday. Immediate feedback was my gearbox jerk was gone. Other than that, the car runs smoothers and low end torque a bit more meat when throttle.

herbert / others,

Do you have extra Beisan Vanos seal repair kit? I'm looking for it.

Just replaced my vanos seal and travelled 110km so far.

Feel nothing big different with before, a bit disappointed.

May be my previous seal still in good shape.

You should have seen your old seal, and then you can confirm if it's still intact. If it is, no big difference. If it isn't, then you definitely should feel a +ve difference.

I left my car in workshop and only went to collect the car after finish repaired, forgot to check the previous seal.
