Folks,

Curious to get some reference in terms of your service interval for your F30? Mine is the 328i and I've just done my 2nd (1st official as I changed the oil at 1,000 km unofficially) service at 6,000 km? The service request popped up and at the time of service at 6,000 km, it was counting down to 1,600 km to service. This surprised me but what surprised me more was the fact that the next service is set at 8,000 km or 02/2015. That's rather short for this type of ride?

That's weird. Did they reset the computer after the 1000km oil change?

The newer 3 Series models have an interval of 12,000km and it has been like that for me so far. Maybe its calculating based on your driving style...and I assume you like to floor the accelerator a lot?

I specifically asked them not to reset the service counter at 1,000 km since it was not an official BSRI service, what threw me off was more the fact that it's set to 8,000 km for next service.

Yes, I do floor it which probably explains my 6.4 km/l FC.

AFAIK, the BMW service interval varies according to the style of driving so that's the only explanation I can think of judging by your style of driving and the shorter service interval. Maybe you can confirm this with your SC as this explanation was given to me by my SA when I asked about the condition based service system in the car.

So, the computation is based on the RPM I supposed, higher RPM means shorter interval period. The computer is intelligent enough to calculate this. I also read some owners feedback saying that the service interval can be within 10,000km to 12,000km. It is not exactly as 12,000km as stipulated. This could prove your theory is correct, SeanCorr.

for my 320d, the computer prompted for service with 3,000 km left to go. not only based on RPM because i believe newer bmws have all sorts of sensors fitted to monitor the car usage.

my first service was at about 12.5k km, 2nd service was at about 23k km. so i believe diesel car has faster service interval?

My 320d is set for every 13k but first service prompted at about 10,900, so I guess it depends on usage

how come my mileage already 26,000km but not yet need to service? but i send it in myself every 6 months at own cost though

I hope they didn't reset your on board service counter...

The car calculates service interval based on usage of fuel or number of days. Say you are heavy footed, a 1000 liters of petrol would get you 10,000kms, while another person with a light foot gets 12,000kms with a 1000 liters of fuel.

Figures above are all arbitrary, but you get the point.

You have to specifically ask the SA NOT to reset the service counter if you're paying for it yourself.

What's the countdown to service for your car now?

Need advice Bros.

My 320i click 11700km but no indication at all telling me to put the car in for service.
Why??
I went to the IDRIVE > Vechcle Information > status > service require > engine oil and it indicates 4300km
This would mean service is at 15000km.
Is this norm??
All this time it has been written everywhere, in this forum, by SA, that the service is at 12,000km.
Why is my setting at 15000km???

Can any kind Bros. help.??

My 328 manufactured in 2012. SA told me engine oil change interval covered by BSRI will be about 30,000 km. As for car manufacture after Mac 2013, the oil change interval covered by BSRI will be about 12,000 km. Anyone heard about this?

I was given additional 2 years BSRI which make it extended to 5 years or 100,000 km when I bought this car last month (premium selection).

I'm newbies here. It is nice knowing all of sifu here!

Just drive and send for service when your onboard computer prompt you. If you feel uncomfortable then you may service earlier at your own cost.

This BSRI thing is a marketing gimmick. How can same engine has different service interval just because it's made in different year. So if your car computer says 12k then you gain lor. If your car computer says 30k then you lugi lor. So those who buy later untung lor.

Just drive your ride harder. The harder you drive the faster your service intervals will be :p

Hi guys , am new here. Just own a BMW 328i M sport. Wondering any car owners facing steering horn knocking sound when crossing bump ?

Bro this is a common problem for f30s. You should do a search before asking this question.
