I took my car up to Genting last week and found my gear box are not changing gear as smooth as it should be, I pressed my accelerator pedal gently but the 1st gear rev as high as 4,000 rpm then only change to 2nd gear, is this normal?Occasionally, the gear choked and causes a sudden acceleration when traveling up hill...I would like to know is this normal? Any forumer faces this?Cheers!

F10 8 speed GB not as smooth as what expected especially on sport mode, after some hard run, when slow down gear box sometimes will jerk.....i thought is abnormal in the first place and ask salesman,he replied this is normal.Am not sure how true this is....but already used to it....
BTW,mine is 528i.
To me....this is abnormal.
Any sifu can input some advise?
chers!

Maybe you can bring your car to the mechanic and check on the computer. Usually any gear slippage will show up in the diagnostic.

The 8 speeder should be silky smooth.
my current E60 with the 6 speed has no jerk at all and I dont expect jerkiness as normal
Sometimes, the sales agent just want to brush matters off and say is normal.
Insist to bring it back for checking.

this issue has been discussed in depth in many US forums.. some people have tried the following with mixed responses.. worth a try?

i think it's a throttle body reset or something similar

1) hit start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
2) then press the accelerator down to the floor for 5 sec
3) then hit start button once to turn off power
4) then remove foot from accelerator
5) then waite for 2 minutes
4) then start the engine like normal and try it out!

apparently this is a solution that would last for about a week. a permanent solution is said to be in the latest software by BMW - refer to (SIB 12 09 11)

hope it helps bro.. i feel ur pain

Zzz... F10 costs so much, yet require owner to do these resetting manually...

Even Camry cars don't need to do these,

Anyhow, i'll try it out tomorrow and see whether it works, if it does, will feedback to y'all..

Dear Forummer,

Brought my car for the 1st service today and told the Service Advisor about this problem, he claim many F10 users faces this problem, it is a software problem; he says new software has yet to arrive, once arrive he'll rectify the problem for me,

The advice tsh23 gave works for 2-3 days only, after that it back to square one...

Meantime, just use the manual +/- for up-slope drive,

Cheers!

Hv checked by mechanic since the day I complaint, but no solution till date.
My car been uplOaded many times latest software but still useless....let's see what BMW can do abt this issue....
