i've been comtemplating to tune my car's ecu.i found this place called ultratune at glenmarie shah alam which can do this. what the workshop can do is to extract info from the ecu, email it to germany, and download back to the ecu to maximise performance. the claimed improvement will be 10%+ increase in power and torque, and corresponding decrease in fuel consumption. nothing mechanical, just re-mapping the ecu for it to achieve optimum efficiency. take a look: www.ultratune.com.mycertain models have a detuned engine. it's time to reveal your engine's true potential! :nyehehe: it's suitable for all models of bmw.the cost is about 3k+.if i can get a group of 10 or more to do mass remapping, say, before CNY, i guess everyone will get a good discount. lemme know if you are keen to do this.pls include your name below. feel free to pm me if needed.1. chew2.3.4.

sounds tempting but was given a couple of bad feedbacks from my mechanic and sifus.

they are saying it would mess with the electronics. It's like allowing someone you think you trust into your house which is filled with valuable items. will most probably turn out good, BUT any downside?

any bros out there who has triumphant or otherwise stories regarding this to share?

Why mess with your chip when you can get piggyback for half the money? With piggyback you can retune the setting ( Air Fuel ratio and Ignition timing) when ever you upgrade your engine. But with chip, you need to pay the same amount of money just to get it rechip again.

I belive Obit / SMT can give a better deal with your mod. Reputable workshop like Links at Sunway can install and tune it on dyno for you for less than RM2k and RM300 bucks for any retuning after that (if you upgrade you motor, of course).

It will not mess with your std setting because it has two files that you can set, 1 for the std , 2nd for the alter mapping. With dyno machine and their experince in tuning, I must say it pretty safe to let your car in their hand. I've got good experince there myself.

Cheers.

i have done it in ultra tune . i think im the frist one who tune it thr ..... its really goood . he will not charge u for the retune !!! :p

Engine running with OBDII ie the E36 328i and the E46 would not benefit much from piggyback ECU. Only the early engines running OBDI would be able to get more power from piggyback ECU. the ECU would detect the change and revert back to original mapping especially when it's receiving the signals from the lambda sensor (oxygen sensor).

So reprogramming the ECU is better for engines with OBDII..

he give me 2 times free tune . the frist time my car is stock . 2nd thn i do alot lar . like hiop cam air filter exhaust cat back . my is 325 ssg . stock is 193 hp . n after tune he say will got 216 hp !!! i will go dyno my car in this few day .... will update the hp soon ..

if everytime itchy backside also go retune then if u're the workshop owner oso u'll charge lah...
I don't think anyone would mind a nominal charge. a 3 run dyno at Links or N-One would also cost u RM100 aledi.

he only give 2 time to tune yr car .... but i dun know how much it will cost to tune it again .. i means the 3rd time or 4 time .....

that's fair. But wouldn't it be better to find out what's the charges for subsequent retunes??? However, for most cars, 2 retunes is more than enuf.

im using hiop cam 260 ..... will update hp asap ...
:nyehehe:
I thought you mentioned using 288 degree before?

ok guys, siapa mau tune?

as patrick has mentioned, the power and torque increase is about 10% and petrol consumption will decrease about 10%. in view of the impending petrol price increase after chinese new year, maybe remapping is a good idea...

let's complete the list leh..
