I couldn't agree more. :top: Class is understated. LEDs are not understated.

I think its better to be ON. Especially if you are driving on the highway... many people will get off the 3rd lane way ahead before you catch up with them. You dont have to flash them when your right behind them..However there will be 1 or 2 slow hoggers who think they are driving fast and stay on the 3rd lane...

DRL needs to be enable through the OBC and activation is through the light switch set to "A" or auto.

Check your manual :D

If I enable DRL on the OBC it's on all the time no matter if I have my lights on Auto, on or off. Is it different on yours?

Hmnn... U mean once OBC enabled DRL, u can't switch it off at the light switch? Mine is pre-2008 320i, so langsung no DRL settings in the OBC.. :( I have welcome light though, when I unlock the car. It has to be enabled in the OBC and light switch must flick to 'A'.. something I consider extra because the 2006 don't have this.. :p But no DRL.. :(

If u activate it, DRL's are always on whatever setting u put on the master light control knob.

Yeah, DRL's on the LCI are always on regardless what position on the Master Control Knob when you have DRL enabled in the OBC.

Also note that the DRL corona rings are brighter than the first right setting on the knob.

Try it in when the car is infront of a glass door to see the reflection. At 'A' and 'O' the corona rings are bright. Switch to DD (or the first right) and you'll see the rings going dimmer. Same with Full On mode, the corona rings are not as bright when it's being used as DRLs.

toiletroll;580054. ... so i reckon that i need the DRL to impress ppl...[/QUOTE said:
:) I guess your Alpine White with ///M Sports Body Kit is already an impressive ride and a head turner. Naturally ppl will take notice, regardless. So the DRL is really for safety purpose where like many of our forumer buddies have mentioned, when driving with DRL's, it helps to weed out the right lane hoggers and also to help other drivers be more alert and aware of you, hopefully unwanted collisions can be avoided. :)

Is safety really the reason people switch on their DRLs here? Or is it "look at me!" and "get OUT of my way!" :)

I manually turned on my headlights on trunk roads even when I was driving my pre-BMW cars :D But I'm just a bit anal about safety most of the time.

Actually safety is not people giving way to you when you're coming at them at 180km/h on the fast lane :D

Safety is you driving down a kampung road and the driver from the opposite side can see you from further away with your DRL on before he tries to overtake the bus in front of him and crash into you head on. DRL is almost useless in a divided highway, it's much more useful on a two way road.

Agree with you. How is intimidating lane hoggers to get out of the way, 'safety'?

Your kampung trunk road example is a good one. What about in a city rush hour crawl? :)

If you are in a bumper-to-bumper in a Friday evening rush hour in the middle of KL with the rain pouring, then all the DRLs in the world would not do jack.

There's a high chance that you would fall asleep on the wheel and hit the guy in front. Now that one, the DRL cannot help you.
