Hey guys, how long does water pump last?

My water pump was changed out @ 100k. Water pump bearing jam & snap the fan belt last saturday. My mileage is 156k. In short, water pump last 50k only?

Thanks.

Copy that!

Cheers.

Problem "resolved" by itself, there wasn't actually a problem, just ignorance from my part, and (maybe bro bimmerholic's too hehe). I'll explain in detail at a later post, need to rush off to dinner now.

Oh ya, the "fix" was given by Optimum Jason. Memang best lah got a workshop sifu who also drives an E39 :)

Ok no pictures.

What worked for me is to turn the temperature knob located between driver and passenger blower to center position, when you can see the WHITE LINE. Like this, the temperature settings would be able to be varied according to preference, driver side and passenger side, independently.

Used to set always at three bars BLUE or two bars BLUE (less cool).

If you still don't get it I'll snap the pic and upload at an undisclosed time.

Bro, are you referring to this pic below? [ignore the statement in the picture...i curi from another site]

I tried turning the knob to centre position to the middle position ( i don't see any white line though but instead one red dot above and one blue dot below; meaning it's in the middle)

Result: No heat whatsoever but the intensity of air coming out of the vent has reduced). I even tried leaving it at 3 red dots, and still no heat.

Alright, whether it's a white line, white dot, or something, just make sure that middle point IS at its middle position. At this position, yes you get less air density but now you should be able to adjust passenger side to 16C and driver side to 30C, feel the difference, and reverse the process, ie 30C on passenger's and 16C on driver's.

It worked for me though at this point, the "25C" is not as cold comparing to if I adjust to 3 blue dots' position with 25C.

My 2003 m54 fanbelt is due for change. What's the price range ?
