How's the pricing. Is the pricing I got competitive or not? I actually spent 5088 today. Huaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Dahla nak Raya and all... got to recycle my Baju Melayu this year. I will put up the details of each component replaced and pricing for everybody's benefit.

When I got back though, the stupid ABS and ASC lights came back on. So gotta go back and check.

Next up is the Steering Rack at 1200 plus servicing my brake calipers (supposed to do this every 45k I was told) and front discs. This one all bila get my commission lah.

funfer_fahrer, Thanks for the PM and input for the lawnmower noise. Will do it next time. As for this month, I am broke already. Paid cash...

(Oh I also renewed my roadtax this month!!!!)

azwanb,

You need to replace your steering rack already? How old is your car? Your mechanic really knows how to identify the parts that need to be replaced. Most of the parts are expensive. I am not sure whether you got a good deal, but the last time I changed my radiator (Behr) I was charged RM800 inclusive of labour. That time my radiator tank was cracked and I didn't notice it. However, I managed to drive from KL to Mersing and finally to JB. I changed the radiator in JB. Vanguish and Chan helped me to find a mechanic there.

The actual bill is as follows:

Engine Oil Mobile 1 188 x 2
Oil Filter 45
3 Wheel Speed Sensor 310 x 3
Front Brake Pads 330
Wear Sensor 45
Brake Fluid Package Fot 4 Shell 40
Spark Plug 40 x 6
Wiper Tank Cap 15
Radiator Tank 850
Resevoir Tank 325
Top Hose 125
Bottom Hose 125
Coolant 35
Water Pump 485
Water Pump Pulley 110
Alternator Belt 65
Thermostat 200
Fan Clutch 320
Power Steering Belt 45
Bleeding Plug 15
Labour for all 340
Total = Pain. Lotsa Pain.

As for my Steering Rack, its leaking. Cost to replace next time, New 1800. Recon 1200. Brake Caliper Service plus front Disc Rotor.

If add the above, I can put a downpayment for a new Suzuki Grand Vitara probably.

My question is, how much cheaper could I have done it? And WHERE?

Got mine last month, send to M1 Segambut for service, came back out....zero cost! The car was well serviced as my car dealer had claimed. Only thing was the brake pads...a little thin, so got the dealer to changed it before I took ownership of the car ;)

One thing for sure, going to car workshop is like lying on the surgeon bed - totally at his mercy! That's why I never go to unfamiliar workshop (and probably why I never change workshop!). Once took my Perdana to a new workshop (after getting sick of going back to the same old workshop that was getting pricier by the day), the tauke changed my brake pads without informing me (and they were working perfectly fine to me!) - since then, it has been 2 years of going in and out of workshops / Eon service centres and my brakes still giving me problem!

Back to M1...probably because I knew the boss personally and that my dad has been frequenting his workshop for the past 15 years, he had been kind to me...:D

We'll see what happens at the next service...*gulp*
