I can watch HD 720 smoothly without delay or thats 114mb of file in just about a minute.

recently, I cant even watch the large format without delay.

maybe you watch too much movie online :D

SDSL you said ? not ADSL ?
The fastest speed I ever archieve (of course not in Malaysia) is 384MB file in less than 2 minutes.

I can't remember where I read it, but I remember Malaysia is having a backbone bottleneck issue. Internet grow is faster than expected. Don't expect faster internet until 2010 or something. (when google lay out BIGGEST cable across pacific)

Bro, they follow script lah. Not by using logic to solve our problem. Even those who cold-call you also have a script to follow. Have you ever tried to predict what they will say next and you change the flow? They will KOYAK tremendously!

Yea I know it's scripted. But the least they could do is hire people with a bit of a clue. If I'm not mistaken TMNet's Customer Tech Support is outsourced to VADS.

The customer tech support is TM's first line of defense...if they don't do it properly at this point it just goes to show how much they really care about their customers.

Pardon my ignorance, how do I know I am getting what I am suppose to get?

The 100mb you're seeing is your LAN connection speed. What you want to look for is actually the WAN speed. If you know how to telnet into your router you'll be able to find the WAN speed in your connection info page. It should show your upstream and downstream speed.

Check your routers' manual for more info.

to be fair, why don't you post other ISP's statement too.

Other ISP probably don't come close to the amount of users TMNet has. Not because nobody wants to use them but because TMNet isn't allocating ports for them at TMs exchanges.

Too bad we don't have a watchdog for this sort of things. Anti-competitive behavior should be put to a stop.

guys, check your speed at speedtest.net. I always checked my download and upload speed and it's awfully slow when compared to other countries. btw i'm in gombak.

I heard something like four houses will share one port. If you want something faster you might want to share it with only one house. That's two houses share one port. Better still, you can have the port all for yourself but with some coffee money.

every ISP have licenses to do their own... they just don't want to because it's costly la.
Other ISPs only want to serve lucrative high traffic area but don't want to spend money.

I'm not defending TM just because I'm it's staff. Like I said TM is GLC. Who is the Govt? F.T.G:thefinger: The hotline support outsource to VADS but who benefit from this? Dun blame the customer service officer, they are just doing their job wt very very minimum wages. Not all users are IT knowledgable & they have to set minimum acceptable standard applicable to all. The turnover rate of staff also very high due to stress job & low salary. TM is not monopoly the market. TM exchanges is their asset & its not logical to allow it to competitors. Imagine lending your BMW to others. Like I said its not fair just to shoot as its easier said than done. There are many factors involved. For eg people complaining that Petronas making lots of profit when the oil price hike but who control Petronas?? F.T.G. Everything in M'sia are regulated until it cant be regulated & uncontrollable to protect the interest of certain parties. Again its not easy for the staff. For eg sometime my increment is less than rm100. I managing bout 400 companies but my mileage claim is capped at RM400 per month. My BMW sucks RM900 petrol monthly & this not inclusive maintenance & wear & tear.
Bro Geof, SDSL is the same as ADSL infra which is best effort & shared basis subject to many factors. Only different same upload/dload bandwith. If you have to check your network also for any problem/noncontrol factors by a reputable/experience system integrator. If you running critical application, then streamyx is not suitable. Its like kancil trying to race on highway. If we propose leased line people say very expensive. We cant expect kancil price same as BMW. Even BMW still got problem. I dun think the topic is appropriate to discuss here & it wont benefit the whole. Its like complaining to this forum while not paying anything for it. Yup Malaysian like free & cheap thing.

There's no reason to close this thread. At least nothing I can think off. We're discussing TMNet's usage policy and I don't see what is really wrong with that.

Bro, so you're saying that just because TM is a GLC we're supposed to just accept everything as it is? So you're saying that just because the customer service officer is getting paid peanuts that we should accept monkeys? Sorry bro but your rationale just goes to show your "Tidak apa" attitude.

Yeah Malaysians love free & cheap stuff. I'm sure the Americans, Europeans, Japanese, Koreans, etc... would turn anything that is free and cheap down without thinking twice. Only in Malaysia would we be demanding for free, fast and reliable internet. And everything else of course...

Bro, from what I see it seems like you're defending TM more than anything else.

Must be on cable internet la turbo. Unless it's ADSL2+ but even so I dun think it's capable of downloading a 384mb file in less than 2 minutes.

I suggest you guys browse the net and see what other ISPs do. They also make "announcements" but why only show TM?

See here:

There you go. Don't be lazy because what is being done here is like people sending or forwarding email to defame competitors.
I am not defending TM. They have lots to improve but it does not help when the regulator does not understand the difference between commercial and social. I can't divulge much on this matter but I hope readers would do a little bit more research. No need to be emotional.

To me it is simple, you don't like one's service, change. You got complaints, go to the regulator. But don't just complain about one service provider, complain about the non-existence of other service providers too. That's all from me now.

Happy surfing.

My celcom broadband is so slow and also not reliable (in PD).

Anybody know how to extend or boost the signal/range of Celcom Bradband?

Yes.. Lease line is the way to go if you are having your own server.. Not cheap though..

Change service if you feel that your ISP is not up to par.. Honestly, most of your traffic will eventually goes
"back" thru the one MAIN ISP.

Igima.. What is IDM? Indestructible Driving Machine??

No prob bro I understand yr situation but once you posted this issue everybody is like condemning like hell. I suggest u check out wt good system integrator if still face problem. PM me if u need reference. Yup our gateway is at bottleneck. No matter how big you expand or upgrade it will never enuff. They are still many users will use more than others eg cyber cafe, CD pirates (making profit), online gamers.

Sorry bro may I know your background & what u do for living? Do you want to join TM? I'm sure TM can benefit a lot from yr expertise. Do you hv any vacancy, I'm tired working day&nite & sometime most weekend without allowance. I'm oso tired maintaining my BMW with RM400 claim & 3k plus salary only although I aredi sold my other car. Yup its true I am very much defending TM here but I do complained a lot bout TM internally. I've been doing sales for 6 different company & industry. I can tell you its hard. I'm not showing my "tidak apa" attitude here but its not fair just to judge based on few posting.

Sorry guys I'm not continuing this discussion. If anyone need any help or advice please do not hesitate to call me 013-7235354.

Bro,

Its because it goes to Mobile Network (RBS) before to internet gateway. Yup its true that all ISP goes back to TM. Most of the time if TM is bad other ISP/Telco are worst.
Every technology has their own weaknesses, same as ISP/Telco. At the end of the day its your money & choice. Its very competitive environment but very high capital investment. Cheers:love:

InitialM,

Susah betul your work ...dun worry,be happy..the next time I dropby JB we go minum minum. We can atlk abt other:rolleyes: sexciting stuff rather then arguing abt internet speed.

Oh yeah...my bmw sucks feul like a straw. But my SuperDuper Torque yellow coupe 7speeder 4 wd sucks abt rm400 perday.

Thanks to initiaM for his good work behind TM.

Not sure why people complaint so much about Streamyx, can you find a faster ISP in Malaysia ?
For RM66 a month with unlimited bandwidth, even at outer Metro or rural area, I think the rate is one of the cheapest in the world.
Yes, the speed is not extremely fast. But how much more you are willing to pay ?
