At the moment, blum ada bro but 320d guys do have their thread. Its a thought though and will give it the consideration and see how many oil burners from the E60 clan we have here in the forum :4:....

Dzul, maybe to include F10 520d then the number of members will be higher. It is rare to see 530d actually. 520d a lot. Even my bro in law and his friends has it.

how frequent do you all sifu recomend servicing the oil burner? since our diesel quality is bad, we should service more thn bmw recomends?

I am using 5w 30 and the engine is more quite. Brand Total
Agree. I use the same viscosity (Brand: BMW 5-30w) as recommended by Ingress and the engine is smooth. But he advise to service every 10k instead of 15k.

Hi Guys, sorry for reviving this thread. Thought, since its here, might as well revive and not start a new thread.

Does anyone know if it must be BMW LongLife 04 or I could use LongLife 01 or 98?

I used both LL04 and LL01, not much differences. BMW service centers provide LL01 engine oils for the diesels. Whether its Castrol or Petronas.

Oh, thanks! I read in the earlier pages that its recommended to use LL04. I guess I will try and use the LL01 and see.

hi guys

I wouldn't recommend changing the oil according to the car service interval of 15k, preferably 5-8k interval especially the amount of soot being put into the engine via EGR valve which thicken the oil overtime. You can use voltronic oil which both have BMW LL-01 and LL-04

I agree with you on that, everytime even at 10,000km when I change the engine oil, the quality it comes out is horrible.

I try to stick to a 8,000km engine oil service interval.

If you can get those EGR bypass valve would be great, it make you engine cleaner and healthier. If your engine suffer rough idle, it usually caused by the EGR valve full of soot.

I have been servicing my 530d every 10,000 ++ by using BMW 5-30w and OEM oil filter. It 's cheaper and there were few occasions that the mechanic was impressed with the engine oil quality after 10,000 KM journey which according to him, seems still good for few thousands KM.

He didn't carry the BMW oil because the margin is small as compared to other brand.

My advise to oil burners, use BMW LL-04 5-30w for your engine to have better experience with your diesel engine.

I am just wonder why BMW service centers are not using their BMW oil?
