My rear RFT tire had worn until the tire wear indicator was showing so have to change them. But cannot change the rear side only because the outer side of the front tire was also badly worn, So have to change 4 tires and decided to go for non-RFT just to see how it is. Docray also wanted to change his tires so we went tire hunting the past week.

It was so difficult to get one set of same model tyres for 4 sides. 225/40/R17 front and 255/40/R17 back.

Wanted to get Michelin PS3 but no rear size available. PS2 don't have stock for the front. For CSC3, new stock is only coming next month. Finally managed to get Falkens with the right spec.

Currently using the 32 psi front/34 psi back pressure like I had on my RFT but it feels too soft with the new non-RFT. May have to adjust to higher pressure until it feels right.

The new tires gives a very quiet and comfy ride. Engine and wind noise suddenly becomes very noticeable during highway travel because I think the RFT somehow drowns those noise with its droning sound. Slow and medium speed corners now have better feel to them. Need to get the tire sealant sometime next week.

Just wonder ur and docra car mileage when u changed it?

Mine already 18000km. Need to put budget aside :)

Thanks zhul, docray called me but I wasn't free plus I think I can still survive maybe another 5k km on the RFTs I have. Where'd you get them installed? Did they do a good job ie. they know how to remove RFTs from the rims without scratching etc? I'm at 21k km and it's getting close.

My rears botak in the central half areas at 30000km (maybe earlier-they picked it up when they took the tyres out for balancing for the Awana Run)...just bought the same Bridgestone RE050 RFT because couldn't find a match for the front tyres...but zhul managed to find the Falkens FK452 today, non RFTs which has sizes for both our rears and fronts.

I am sure u guys agree..our Bridgestones RFTs last for 20,000km and maybe a little more, which is crap for tyres that cost close to 2K each (for the rears)!!

Mine was just over 30k km, just like docray. They didn't have problems removing the tire but it looked harder to remove compared with normal tyre. I got them from kam hua in glenmarie, along the highway to Bkt jelutong and guthrie highway.

Would have gotten RFT's too, just like docray, if I couldn't find a non-RFT set by noon today.

Checked the wheels carefully this morning ... and got some scratches along the wheel rims :motz:

FYI, Tyrezone quoted Jap Dunlop DZ101 for RM485 front and RM635 back but got the pricing after I changed mine.

Just dropped the tyre pressures like zhul advised to 34 rears and 32 fronts. The recommended pressures are way higher( 230 front, 250 rears........if converted 35 front, 37 rears)-if you look at the chart on the side of the B pillar (drivers door). Such a big difference now...the car rides more softer, not so much bone-jarring...almost like a Merc's ride now. What pressures do you guys use?

I'm still on the higher 230-240 front, 250 rears. Will try and drop the pressures a bit to see how it works.
