Thanks docraboy for the info. I was at Quill too yesterday and spoke to the aftersales guys. They told me the same thing. As long as the total diameter of the rim/tyre combination is nearly the same, the warranty stays and things like suspension won't be covered. However, engine oil change and routine stuff should go ahead as scheduled. The screen for the idrive is actually 8" in size. Big enough :)

The BMW 320d with idrive is RM 260,800 . I spoke to some exhaust guys in sunway and they told me changing the muffler and tip of the 320d exhaust system could change the sound of the car when idle and accelerating. Don't know much abt this though , but that ugly downward facing exhaust tip has got to go! :). I'm definitely changing mine when I get the car. Love the saddle brown interior but sadly it only comes with the alpine white and black sapphire cars!!

Just drove my friend's 730LD.. its much quieter. Do you think change exhaust system can really improve the sound and how how much would it cost? i love my 320D the torque but engine sound just a bit too loud (my friend just teased me mine 320D sound like old taxi).

Any more suggestion out there?

Thanks guys!

Have anyone tried to put the sound absorbing sponge on the under the hood. It should mask a fair but of the engine sound.

It is a good-sized screen but the 5 series screen looks massive compared to it, Doc9. But still, better get the 320d with the iDrive than without one-that's a no-brainer.

You get the iDrive and M Sports kit, not the Performance kit.Go to any BMW dealer today and see it in their showrooms-also CNY celebrations going on yesterday and today too-Lion Dance show etc..

although i wish i had the idrive...have no regrets getting the car last year. had so many thrills in the car over the last few months of ownership that i would have forgone had i waited for this year! next change...the F30d in 4-5 years! hehe... :D
to all new 320d with idrive owners, looking forward to seeing you guys soon, so that we can admire your toy's bells & whistles!

saw the new 325 today, which has darkened style 193M rims and a black exhaust...very sexy. wowz, I like!
mikeyC, also asked about your performance CF spoiler - it'll be about RM2.5k

I doubt that you can improve it much. An inline 6 is inherently more stable than an inline 4 so there's not a whole lot you can do.

What isyour 320d to you?

I don't think there's a single 320d owner that regrets buying the car...it's a beauty, it's sublime. What is your 320d to you? Tell us.........

Describe in one word:

(1) Sublime

definitely no regrets; when driving 320D too busy to look at the iDrive screen :19: i think... and my home finance minister wouldn't approve the upgrade budget:20:
wow CF one really cost a boom. Thanks.

Also not much point in upgrading when a model change is just around the corner. You'll suffer double-whammy 1st year depreciation, say RM60k x 2, just for an iDrive. Not worth it IMO.

But anyway to those purchasing now, consider that 1 month is the difference between 2010 and 2011 maps. I just checked, 2011 isn't out yet.

.

I agree and one cannot cope with the ever changing tweaks that BMW does every 2 years unless you're a multi millionaire who is debt free. I'm quite settled for the 320d and not regretted buying it. Would have regretted if I couldn;t get it as it would have mean i had to fork out many tens of thousand for a silly GPS and some other information. With a fraction of the cost I could customize my dashboard and fit in my ipad which would have been even cooler.

TOUCH SCREEN!!!!!!!!

iPad and iPhone navigation are not GPS-based though

If you have a unit with iDrive, it's worth having it. But if you have to trade-in a unit to get one with iDrive at this late stage of the model life-cycle, then it's not a financially-sound decision. By the end of this year, all talk will be of the F30, and the first year depreciation of 2011 units will be that much higher. This history repeats itself every 7 years or so.

I agree but you could integrate a garmin into it and it cost several hundred only. The ipad would be cooler then anything or some other pc tablet with a touch screen. True i'll be better to have an i drive but to sacrifice so much ?????? nah!! I'll save that $$ for the new 5 series

BMW has designed an iPad holder for the rear seats. Don't think it's available here in Malaysia yet though. IMO, doesn't look too snazzy though.

You can operate an iDrive with one knob and one hand resting on the arm rest while driving at normal speeds, ie, much exceeding the speed limit. You can't operate a Garmin, much less a touch pad in the same way. I own about 20+ Garmins at work, and in 2010 I had the iPhone3GS, iPad and iPod Touch before they arrived here, and am using a local iPhone4 now, so I know what they are about.

But yes, save the $$$ for an F10 or F30

thanks guys for all the infos about the diesel. just got mine few weeks back. Im like Speedy Gonzales with four wheels. :)

Happy to hear you are enjoying the 320d adzri-great to have met you at KLIMS 2010! I am sure you are grinning from cheek to cheek everytime you tekan the 320d throttle!

........Before one leaves the face of the earth, one must own and drive a 320d.-wise saying from old sage of yore.
