Sorry guys, didnt mean to hurt your feelings. Am just a little confused abt the rim change and warranty. Just asking you guys for your opinion. What colour did you get docraboy? I thought you were trading the old one for the new?

No lah doc..didnt hurt our feelings..just one of those end of life cycle facts of life we have to accept. I'll ask at Quill when I go there this Saturday for their CNY celebrations, also catching up with their director for a drink after that too-so will ask him also. My colour si Alpine White with black interior. They say white is the new black, and the E90 looks fabulously sporty and sexy in white. Its actually, in my opinion, a hundred times easier to maintain than black-which was my previous car's colour.

I has once spoken to Glenmarie SC, changing rim will not void warranty. I have modified my tailpipe and drive to glenmarie for service and warranty claim, the SC does not mention anything. :)

The new car also has Brake Energy Regeneration (BER). You guys reckon it is going to make a world of difference compared to our current model?

I think best to have it than without. But hard to say, it may be just a passing fad. Let's see whether this BER stands the test of time.

With 380Nm of torque, you'd probably be braking most of the time ! .... So lots of energy regenerated ! Haha :p Guy's, what extra's should I ask for when booking the car? And docraboy do pls ask the guys abt whether changing to 19" rims will make the warranty void.

the more complicated, more issues going to have in long run...

Ya, I totally agree...the Total Cost of Ownership throughout your car lifespan under your budget is definitely higher with more "high tech" features. For instance, based on history, most E46 maintenance costs primarily revolves around the engine bay due to wear and tear such as the vanos seals, valvles, gaskets, pumps, etc etc....but now with lets say the grey import E60 530d's with DPF(diesel particulate filter) for instance, it will cost you almost an arm/leg for the frequent change due to our Euro 2M quality diesel....that is just one example. And for the future models, if the trend is towards electro mechanical handbrake and dynamic suspension (eg.F10), then when warranty is over and the time comes for the part to give way, the electronic modules coupled with the actual physical part and parts, its definitely gonna be a dip in the pocket.

So I dont really know how the ownership experience will be for the second hand F10 cars in the future, as the cost of ownership will definitely be higher than those who owns E60 (and those prior to that) simply because one fact remains, more electronic components and parts coupled with our harsh road conditions and weather which the modern equipped (more electronics, etc) UDM cars will be susceptible to faster wear and tear.

But I hope its not true, but from where I am standing, it seems pretty realistic, no?

You're probably spot on M3ac. A buddy who uses his Porsche 911 as a daily ride says his main cost is in electronics problems, not mechanicals. Each repair bill usually exceeds 10k. :1:

Should as for security tint, or a number equivalent to the cost of the tint....unless you prefer cash discount. As for the wheels, i checked with my SA before i bought my car, and he confirmed that it will not affect warranty and some other friends also had no issues when they upgrade their rims....

Hmmm, I am beginning to worry with my LCI N52B25 UDM, no fret yet coz I still have BSRI and Warranty, the real test comes after the expiry period.....well, will cross the bridge when it comes I guess

Thanks M3ac. Where did you buy your car? I've asked AB glenmarie and sungai besi and none of them can confirm with me abt the rim change n warranty.

ABKL on Jln Tun Razak (ex-Sapura Auto). Anyway, even for stock rims and tyres, standard warranty will not apply for wear and tear or user afflicted problems eg. if we curb our rims and etc...so not much warranty claim can be "claimed" in that respect.

Highly recommend to also try to get free oil/filter changes at 2000kms & 5000kms included for when you break in your car. Make sure they don't impact your BSRI countdown.

Hmmm, thats a good one, now why i didn't think of that?

Cool! Thanks for the info. Did all of you guys go for the alpine white? Any pics of your 320d's? I'm split btw sapphire black or alpine white! Space grey is nice when it's clean and shining.

Alpine white is nice when it's clean and shining too. Unfortunately I don't have a maid like docray so mine is frequently dirty :D

btw another tip from docray, a bit of polish or bug/tar remover on the exhaust will keep it nice and shiny.

Yeah, I went for Alpine White too. But I am unsure of the exhaust tip, I think that has got to go at some point, not very nice.

IMO, both are great colours to get and some say White is the new Black. It goes very well with the performace kit or M Sport Bodykit.

If you enjoy washing your car with TLC then either Alpine White or Black Sapphire Metallic is equilly tedious to take care. Mine is Black Sapphire and I enjoy washing my car personally. However, with Alpine White, you will need to take a little bit more care especially when it's the rainy season, after each rain, if the car is not clean, you will see water marks as well a grey water streak lines flowing downwards. Extra care to was the care more regularly is required as compared to black. But the good news is, its harder to spot the swirl marks or the cobwebs on the clearcoat as compared to Black.

The drawback for black is this, after a good wash, the moment you drive the car out and come home, you will see a layer of dust on the car. After two days, the dust gets more apparent, on the fourth day it gets unbearable (according to my standard), so....still need to regularly wash the car.

Now, in short, if you dont mind not washing the car for a week regardless how it looks, then any colour will do. But if you are very particular with the aesthetic cleanliness, shine, gloss, etc....Hmmmm, then a lot of hard work, time, effort is required for either colours. For me personally, Black Sapphire is slightly easier to take care than Alpine White.

Ask Toiletroll, he can share with you his experience and challenges in keeoing his Alpine White M Sport clean and stain free. After the detailing TT with KC the detailing sifu, at least there is light after the tunnel for him and his "White Knight"

Try either colour once....white/black....people say it'll be the last time you will ever choose either colour again! But, seriously, I really wouldn't mind choosing another white again.....if I were to trade in and also plonk in another 100k and get a newer 320d with the iDrive!! gameover and zhul, you guys game for a trade in?
