The standard of living is actually rather high, a large portion of income is taxed by the government and health insurance is considered a necessity by those who can afford it; hence most of the aftermarket mods are targeted towards higher end cars. Unlike in Asia where most mods are for the low and mid end cars.
Btw, after you have spent a few months in Germany, the Autobahn isn't all that much different from most highways around the world. Sure the commuters have better road discipline, but driving fast on a straight road isn't that much of a challenge.
I grew up in California,Pasadena to be exact. My dad was at USC.Plenty of places to take ur car to it's limits.Very nice place for car nuts, the US.Lots of passionate people, plenty of tuners and plenty of makes to choose from.
My work takes me to Germany many times a month and yes,I've driven there.Apart from the autobahn, there are numerous racetracks where u can take ur car on weekends.Oh yeah, the autobahn is not like any other highway elsewhere. It was painstakingly designed to a very high standard and with very specific criterias in mind.Look it up.
I guess IF I were to work in Germany,I'd be on the mid to high income train..so no probs there. The key word here is IF.
End of the day tho,I guess anywhere u end up,there will be pros and cons..and being in these two countries is a definite pro where being a car enthusiast is concerned.
