A drive to Malacca would be great! However let's keep that in mind for another weekend eh...

My fear of drives around this holiday season is that responses will be somewhat poor

The Malacca drive would in my opinion be a great drive given a better timing. Say late January? That is, if there is none slated for that weekend. In fact, if there is no one doing a drive for January, I'd gladly organize one [i.e. a Malacca Drive] with some activities thrown in.

For now, a 'short' drive to Pavilion would have to suffice...

Of course not forgetting, 'other activities' too. We could have an after lunch drinks as mentioned in my earlier posting.

just did a short drive to Ampang's Lookout Point out of curiousity then all the way to Sg Congkak. Nice road I would say... and nice place to lepak at Lookout Point. We can then head to Pavillion for karaoke at Red Box or something "similar." hahahah

Bro, the Lookout Point is pretty much busy during weekends and late afternoons. Parking will be a issue as bays at the top are limited. Hint: Macam tau-tau aje!!! Hehehe... :listen:

Looks like an idea hatching there VC!

Can someone please check what the rates are on a Saturday, inclusive of room and the buffet lunch say for 15 to 20 PAX? Or does anyone here have a membership with Red Box for 'previlaged' bookings. Appreciate the assistance. Thanks.

Got it from the net, Red Box + Pavillion.
Sat/Sun/Public Hols 1500-1800 Hi tea buffet RM32++; 1800-midnite Dinner buffet RM60++
I believe they charge for the F&B and that includes the room depending on the size of group.

Even if it's not for karaokeing, there are quite a number of cool casual places to hang out at Pavillion, level 3 al afresco - la bodega, starbucks, carlos, athena, etc; level 4 - rainforest, dome, theobroma, etc; centre court - coffee bean, dome

Since we're in this TT topic, I would also like to suggest other outside 'cangkir' places that we may want to consider for a change of ambience once in awhile.

- Modestos at Cap Square, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, KL (restaurant/bistro)
- Skybar, Traders Hotel (lounge/bar, chill out place with really awesome view from 33rd floor)
