thats exactly my point. drivers are the sitting duck without a proper alarm. especially lady drivers. if i remember correctly, volvo has alarm that detects if an intruder is in the car. owner is pre warned BEFORE entering the car. isnt that cool :)
What's point of having proper alarm if d driver has no situational awareness? Most ppl would not care about alarm sound.

What is the point of having an alarm that detects intruder & pre-warned owner before entering the vehicle when the owner can c it 4 themselves.

It is totally pointless.

The only alarm system i would like is Mellow Yellow MINI Cooper S

Tis is so cute.

Aiyoo, endless discussion I sensed.. may d force be with u...

We should call this..

"The various car security system in the market and their features" more appropriate..

BMW has driver doze alarm ma.. :p also not standard equipment here.. :(

Ah ha...after reading this thread, we now assume that our E90 cannot be driven away without the key fob. Along with the "un-breakable" Wingard tinted film, nobody is able to steal anything from our car, except the expensive rims and RFTs.

Question: can the SC duplicate our key fob ?

Well, one of the bolts in each wheel is a lock-nut, so a tyre thief has to find the key first. I would wager that there are E90 owners who don't know where the key is themselves. :p

The dealers can duplicate the key fob, but it's a controlled spare part.

Unfortunately 320i has no lock-nut.

Oh, that's too bad Silver. I'm sure you can get a set from the dealers. The adapter key is coded, so there must be several patterns. It would seem that you can't even assume that an adapter key from one BMW will fit the lock-nuts of another BMW.

if i am not mistaken there is about 42 or more type of the lock nut from BMW...

Whoa 42? So it's not that easy for a casual thief to steal BMW wheels! :top:

yeap...also it is not easy for you to find an identical ones to be used to change the wheels during emergency in case u leave it somewhere u cannot find...

i was once at the tyre shop and i left mine at home, the shop ppl tried to match the lock nut from 6 other bmw's at his place but no chance...so have to drive all the way home and go back to the shop again...
