hi dato datin, tan sri and puan sri.

Will be getting my 320i soon, my first UDM.

Can't belief that it does not have an alarm system even my 7 months old C200 has an alarm, but was lost to car jacker, Well not to worry about losing it, be sure to insure it at agreed value clause. it if is lost then u get full insured value.

Really interested in getting the reverse camera, really a useful tools. but since it will void warranty will get it after 2 years when the warranty expires.

Can anyone share their experience in installing the reverse camera? Whats the best deal in town ? are video quality good ?
ask from SA to install in house, no worries about warranty void, prepare to dig deep into your pocket though.

I had my f10 reverse camera done by BimmerCoder last weekend. Individually, it's priced at RM 2200 with installation.

No writing cuts, a 1,5 hour job done professionally. All the original BMW parking lines are shown. Works like a charm. No complaints

Dear JH Luke, is this an option available through BMW original parts? or SA source it from their "kawan" accessories shop ?

Just ask my SA, there is not such thing as original BMW reverse camera in Malaysia and he advise against installing it as it will definitely void warranty. So guess my only option is to wait 2 year until warranty lapse only install the camera.

Any mod done outside even with original accesoriies will have your warranty voided for that part or parts related to it. That's understood and a common practice with all car companies

So, for the reverse camera mod, what's the worst that could happen? Well, your idrive gets screwed up, no? If that happens, firstly, get the vendor to access the idrive and diagnose for you. If that fails, get him to reverse the mod and then send in to BMW to claim your warranty. Sure, it's a hassle and if it's too much for one, don't even think of any mod during warranty period, period! LOL

Btw, the reverse cam is an officially available option on the F10 and cost $5k - a rip off if you ask me. I could get a 60inch LED TV with change for a home theatre system for that silly price but hey, that's official accesories for you

Which dealer is your SA from? Try calling Ingress or Quill parts department and ask for the F30 reverse camera. Last I heard is BMW Malaysia has not supplied them with stock yet and the price is under RM4k minus installation charges...forgot the exact price.

my cousin just bought an f30, he mentioned that it has 5 years warranty and 5 years free service. is he right?

My understanding that warranty never increase, only the service only

There has been a lot of misconception that BSRI = warranty. It isn't.

BSRI = Service + Repair which means you get FOC service + repair for 5 years but warranty remains @ a pathetic 2 years.

I check with Auto Bavaria Glenmarie, I have tried Quill and Ingress, no discount at all. Auto Bavaria Glenmarie is giving a very good deal for 2015 car. If can get it together with the car plus 4k I dun mind, but if its a brand new product from bmw and need to install after getting car, then no need lah, my parking skill is still ok.... it is just nice to have.

Well worst is that if anything screw up with the wiring, as in the new plug and play wiring cause a fire to your car, then u can kiss your car insurance claim good bye!

Warranty is only 2 years (unlimited mileage) regardless of the 2015 or 2014 car.
BSRI is 3 years or 60km for 2015 stocks, 5 years or 100km for 2014.

This what BSRI:
As according to CBS Data:
Engine oil change including oil filter
Engine oil top-up
Replacement of fuel filter (for diesel models only)
Service air filter
Service micro filter
Service spark plugs
Service brake fluid
Brake pads (front & rear)
Brake discs (front & rear)
Windscreen wiper blades rubbers in conjunction with an engine oil service
Vehicle Check
As listed on the Owner’s Handbook (chapter: Mobility, Maintenance)

Was tempted to get a 2014 car just to have the 5 years free service, then figure it best to get 2015 and buy parts to service after 3 years up since I got a friend to sells BMW OEM and Franchise parts...

FYI there is a big discussion in the Rusties FB page about BSRI.

BSRI does cover electrical and mechanical failures and you can claim from BMW but the claim might be 100%, 50% (you pay some of it), etc. It really depends on BMW Malaysia's 'mood' on how they will handle case by case.

So if you ask me, the 5 year BSRI is a better choice as you still get some sort of coverage if a costly part fails.

Still far cry from proper warranties from Mercedes Benz and Audi Malaysia though.

If anyone wants to get the F30 reverse camera it's out now...well technically you need to order it first and the parts will come from Germany in 2-3 weeks. I paid RM3473.25 to be exact for the camera and the bracket. Workmanship is around RM600+

Which dealer are you doing this with?

I want to find out about this too.

Finally got my car today, just in the nick of time with tinting done.
Congratulations. Nothing beats the feeling of driving a new car during CNY.

Wow that is a lot of money to pay for a reverse camera. Do keep us posted on your feedback after you have it installed and tested.

Wow 4k! That's alot of money for reverse camera. , I think after my warranty I will install those retrofit. Half price of our original BMW.

A stupid question, does the radio keep running when you press the push start engine once. Mine keep running until I lock the door or I press the push start twice.

Is that normal ?
