a 17-year-old teen not wearing a helmet banged into my car at an intersection early this afternoon and caused scatches to the door and remove the driver side wing mirror. he suffered some injureis...and i took him to a nearby clinic to get treated for bruises, cuts....doc said better to send him to hospital for x-ray to ensure he doesn't have any internal injuries.an ambulance came to take him away...his damaged bike (he says no insurance...common problem on local roads) was moved to one side.i was advised to make a police report in case of claims from the other party, in which case my insurer would pay the claims (hospitalisation and compensation).....i'm told police would favour the biker in most cases....have 24 hours to file a report.....so would my car be impounded? if so how long?advice and other thoughts appreciated.P/Sthe wing mirror glass broke but whole thing is still in one piece. can it be restored and if not how much is a used/new one?

If the guy decided to claim your insurance (most likely he will) regardless if he was insured or not, then you can say bye bye to your NCB. You can compensate him for his injuries and have him sign a black and white stating that he will not claim your insurance (ask your lawyer to prepare the letter). That you can save your NCB. Otherwise just make a police report and let the guy claim whatever he or his lawyer thinks fit.

Next time when you see motorcycle, remember to run far far away. Sometimes it's hard to avoid such incident tho e.g. when you park your car and a motorcycle hit your stationary car; the motorcycle still can claim your insurance. Motorcycle vs. car; 99.99% of the time the motorcycle will win.

...and its for this reason the Mat Rempits are running wild bcos they are the untouchables....they bang us we pay we bang them we pay..

If there are injury to another party, it is better to make the accident report.

it is not normal for police to impound your car unless they suspect your car is stolen. So dont worry about it.

You have 24 hours to make the report. The IO will decide who is in the wrong based on your report and the other party report. They will also take picture of the external damage only. You will know if you are in the wrong after the IO interview you. If you are in the wrong, then you will issue with a summon. You have 2 months to settle it.
