520i : Without Paddle Shifters on Steering - does it still make a wise buy?

the paddle shifters is not going to help you win much in a drag or pull your car by few secs a head. i felt the default auto-setting is good enough lah. even on a sports car, i rarely use it, let alone on a big car like this. should not be a deciding factor when you go for the 5 series.

Maybe not a "must have" but to me it is useful and desirable.

Can get a bit higher than 1% :) For 520i my SA can offer 2% discount.

The dealers seem pretty generous on the 520i. I recall in May, there was a special promo by BMW Credit, with interest at 1.87% but only for 520i. Great deal.

My SA told me that the 520i was lesser in demand compared to the 520d and 528i hence can get slightly better discount.

Thanks for the reply. Just fyi, at one point in June I was given a 4% discount on a 520i.

Nice discount. 4% is like fleet discount already.

I think fleet discount has got different tiers (depending on number of cars bought). Starts at 4% and can go up to 6%.

I think its more than that, i got 6%.

I last heard from an SA that 6% is given straight away to the affiliated insurance company (such as Great Eastern) agents. But I am no insurance agent so let it be.

Btw, the next big thing haunting any new buyers from now will be the so-called "impending gradual reduction in excise tax" which I think will take forever to materialise though.

I am not even affiliated with any insurance. Just so happens my wife is with Sime Darby. Car is registered under my name, but we still got the fleet discount.

Fleet discounts for companies that buy large number of cars are slightly more than 6%. Sime Darby staff should get more than 6%.
