the answer is "NO".. there is no comfort access a.k.a keyless entry at almost all the BMW models including F10. the only F10 got the function is 535i but the model is no longer offered in the market anymore by BMW Malaysia..

i have no idea why they are not introducing keyless entry as a standard item to have but it seems like they are playing this as a marketing strategy. just mine 2 cents

i doubted on this too.

if you are willing to pay, i believed BMW Malaysia can bring you a 550i as well

What is your source of this? AFAIK, it's still offered by BMW M'sia, and I even was offered $25K discount from AB if I purchase one.

oh really? i just asked the SA at Sg Besi last week and he replied that they are not offering anymore the 535i due to lack of demand since the price is very high by almost a price of F01.. they only got a pre registered model to offer to whom are relly interested

Indeed it is a shame that comfort access is not more widely available in the local models. At this level I believe it should be a standard item, however as you say it's a marketing strategy and not one that I'm fond of.

not officially. but if you really want a 535i, you can make a special order with your ideal spec list and a chance to go for the bmw individual line. how much they gonna shark you for it is another matter altogether though.

Hi,

I have just given up on 328i mostly due to the average cockpit material + room.

It'll be a big thing in my life deciding to own an F10. I do not have the budget for 528i but two things concern me i.e. the missing HUD and paddle shifters in 520i.

3 Questions:

#1. Without the paddle shifters on steering, does it still make 520i a wise buy?
#2. Do most of you the enthusiasts find the HUD a must-have on a 5er?
(I wonder are these the reasons behind the uninspiring sales figure of the 520i that AB has a good number of ready stocks and looks eager to find a buyer.)
#3. An SA offers a 1% discount. Is this the maximum discount level BMW would usually budge?

I thank you for your generous feedback.

If 528i is ideal and u seriously considered 328i.. plus u like the sports paddle shifters.. my 2 cents feedback is the 520i might not give you enough driving pleasure... even if u get a good discount.

Urgent : Dilemma, not sure what i expect from you guys but some personal choices.

I am back on the REP program, so i can buy tax free.

I want a 528i, @270K but that only avail Nov/dec based on allocations and they have a colour i like, Sophisto & Black interior
They can deliver me immediately in August 520I, havana + Black interior (i love the havana but they dotn have it on 528)

My view is, does it make sence to wait till Nov/Dec for the 528i or take the 520i? If Nov, better wait for Feb for 2013 car right? what would you guys do? the 520 is at 240K. So the difference is only 30K but the wait plus i have no car now....find it hard to decide man!

I like the HUD, i like the power but power can uprate right? Will speedboost void BSRI? Also, do you guys feel there is difference on the seats for M?

What would you guys do?

Goks

At that price, i wld certainly go for 528i. Even if u hav to rent a car for a few mths, it'l be a tiny fraction of the import duty exemption.

I wldn't wait for nxt year if there is risk of changing govt policy/incentive. Instead ask for year end promo freebies or fin package from your SA.

Only BMW powerkit preserves BSRI. But as far as i know currently it doesn't exist for the N20 engine.

The M-sport seats make a big difference when u indulge in spirited driving. If u do not wear beyond XL size, the seat is comfortable even for long distance trip.

Is there a summary of the diff between the 520i and 528i?

The major differences are:
1. Engine tuning
2. HUD
3. M-sport bodykit
4. M-sport rims
5. Paddle shifters

Others from my observation and reading above:
a) M-sport steering is thicker
b) M-sport gear lever is different (it is?)
c) M-sport gearbox is different
d) M-sport seats also different
e) M-sport has alu-hexagon interior trim

What about suspension? Any diff? I know the 528i has a Sport+ mode. I think 520i only up to Sport.

The major differences are:
1. Engine tuning : YES
2. HUD : YES
3. M-sport bodykit : YES
4. M-sport rims : YES
5. Paddle shifters : YES

Others from my observation and reading above:
a) M-sport steering is thicker : YES
b) M-sport gear lever is different (it is?) : YES
c) M-sport gearbox is different : NO
d) M-sport seats also different :YES
e) M-sport has alu-hexagon interior trim :YES

What about suspension? Any diff? I know the 528i has a Sport+ mode. I think 520i only up to Sport. ( NO same for both ) renamed eco / comfort / comfort + / sport / sport + its about same no diff

Your offer definitely puts my purchase plan on hold. Good for you, really.

528i for 270k? are you okay?
I think he is buying under the TalentCorp returning Malaysians program, hence much cheaper since lower tax.

GUys, decision made. after going for a 3rd test drive, though i found the 520 giving me enough umph for my driving, i liked the M seats and sounds system better and since everyone i spoke too says i am stupid not to splash the extra 30K :) . So i kept my Nov delivery on the 528, finally i will own a UDM, never even dreamt of it.

Masuzu - Yes, 528i tax free is 272K, 520i is 242K, 520d is 241K . As JBJB said, i was abroad for many years and came back to work here under the talentcorp returning malaysia program. Once of the incentive is the ability to buy 2 tax free CKD cars.

Hello,

I'm using the 528i and the car have all the features you mentioned above. Here's my take

#1. The paddle shifters are just for the eyes. You wont have the chance to use it. But then again, my 528i is using the 3.0 engine, the car pick up might be different from the 520

#2. The built-in GPS in any bimmer sucks big time. You will hardly use it. You dont need the HUD

#3. Not sure

Maybe not a "must have" but to me it is useful and desirable.

#3. An SA offers a 1% discount. Is this the maximum discount level BMW would usually budge?

Can get a bit higher than 1% :) For 520i my SA can offer 2% discount.
