UPDATE:

Kind of a bummer to write this but the freakin grey importer revoked the sale saying that no untung selling the car to me. They wrongly quote the price!! WTF!!.. I got the asking price from them on a printed quotation and we agreed on the price and i put down a booking fee. Now he called me saying he have to increase another 10k if I want the car. I'm damn pissed! !@#$%^

Sorry guys.. Really wanted to be in the group but shit happens.. Maybe I have to take up what Pak Lah says.. tu ubah cara hidop and beli Kancil...

Most of us gulped when you posted your Q in the morning and signed on the bottom line by lunchtime. The only thing guaranteed on a car from this grey importer would be trouble. 3 months warranty? Sorry wrongly quoted also...

Count your blessings badrul880! :)

If this guy can treat you like that, then he obviously has no integrity. You're better off not buying from this dude. By the way, care to share the dealer? So next time our fellow forummers will know to be cautious for this dude.

Anyway, just wanted to add my 2 cents on this "to-Jap-or-not-to-Jap" issue. I myself had similar concerns. But I went ahead and got myself a E60 530 Jap spec. I would say it depends a lot on the dealer as well. If it is an established dealer, then they tend to be a bit more careful when selecting their cars, so at least chances are lower you get a lemon. Also, I had a few teething problems with the car (i.e. ignition coil, alternator) within the warranty period and they were all taken care of no questions asked. Since then, touch wood, so far so good. Also helps if before you buy, you take it to a trusted mechanic (Ah Meng for me!) and get his opinion also on the car. I hadn't tried Sapura or Ingress, but I find AB used cars to be too much premium for me. Then again, I suppose the reassurance of a longer warranty might be worth it too. In the end, all up to you and your level of priority and risk.

Don't let this episode put you off BMW bro. Trust us all, once you drive a BMW, there's no looking back!

UPDATE 2:

Salesman called me 5 mins ago saying that they will honour the agreed pricing. My god now what. Im so jumbled up now..
Ok then, Im gonna arrange the meet up at Sapura to check the car ie condition and original milleage..

Alxy, when did your alternator and coil problem cropped up? I meant how long after u have taken possession of the car?

Thanks

Ask for a written warranty document and examine it carefully. If there is nothing written except a general "3-month warranty", think again. ;)

Ok thanks for your comments. I have already made an appointment with Sapura to check the car throughly.

Wahh its nice to have a driver.. For me, I will be in my daily drive Legacy Wagon which I love every minute of it.

Err.. guys.. where do I service the car after taking delivery of it? When do I change the plugs, timing belt (if any) etc??

We are on timing chain and BMW is designed with minimal maintenance philosophy. So every thing from engine oil to radiator coolant level, from ATF to tyre pressure is monitored by the OBC. Just continue to drive as long as there's no warning light comes up on the dash.. Perfect for ladies driver.. :D

This is a new and not many on the road car despite launched in 2005. So I doubt the foreman outside can trust despite when u ask them, they say everything can. That's why I prefer getting the authorised BMW dealers to take care of the car... allowing more time for 3rd party foreman meddle with grey import cars by trial and error to familiarise with E90 repairs.. :D

Right on! Also, covered by BSRI (BMW Service Repair Inclusive). But note that engine oil top-up is not covered in the BSRI. I paid RM75 for it at SA.

Talking about 3rd party workshop, there's a business owner spoke to me on opening workshop that targeted servicing BMW cars. He did some research and find that certain BMW forum members owe workshop couple of thousand Ringgit each and adds up to over RM100k of outstanding debts and difficult to collect. I only hope these are not our forummers and it will put us to shame.

On the oil top up issue, it should not happen as the 1st service. The culprit should be the 1st fill special oil that's not suitable here for our climate.

sorry Bad,just want to share some bits with regards to Alxy's post..btw,his is an e60 as opposed to the e90 so i guess the problems are different.

back to the bit at hand..had the same problems with my M54 e60,after a few months of motoring, the alternator and ignition coils(1 and 6)gave way..had the car towed and repaired.when i went back to TOYOKAR(the place i bought the car from),they refused to honour my warranty claim despite the rigourous arguments i threw at them..all like 'hati kering' only.i'm glad to hear that urs actually honoured theirs..

suffice to say i won't be buying any more cars from TOYOKAR ever again la.. thinking of taking up tha matter with the Tribunal Pengguna, tho its gonna take up what little free time i have.bummer...
